OMG grow up buddy. A ps3 costs a lot to produce get over it. Sony always charges a lot for it. It isn't a main stream console yet. grow up

Even if this shortage means Sony loses 200,000 in potential sales, who cares? Sales will probably spike upward next month when the new 80gb is released and will make up for some of the losses. More importantly, a couple hundred thousand units makes little difference in the grand scheme of things when you have an install base of 14.47 million.

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

More like threads like this show how pathetic this site is with its continuied anti sont bias.

Pointless troll threads like this one should be closed by the mods right away, but this site has become the outlet for the most foolish anti sony fanboys and it by choice from the people that run it.

To be honest, I wish all PS3s had BC. I think it's a misguided attempt to keep the PS2 alive when they should be focusing on their future, the PS3.

Particularly if BC cost them very little.

An unfortunate mistake, imo.

Everyone gets this wrong, they took BC out of the PS3 to sell more PS3 games. They were seeing people buying PS2 games for their PS3s and skipping the PS3 software. Take out the BC and people have to buy PS3 games for their PS3. They loose money or break even on PS3 consoles, the real money is in the games, and I doubt there is much profit left in PS2 games now with the price down. They still have to give percentages out to publishers and developers for those. So start moving the 60 dollar games.

They'll put BC back in when PS3 software sales get to an accptable level.



I own all three current consoles and a great gaming rig, now thats out of the way.
