Forums - Gaming - gta4 is one of most dissapointing games ever!

Funny, GTA 4 got high score because it's GTA. Well, MGS4 got high scores because its MGS.

Every HD game this gen has been hyped to death. GTA4 and MGS4 to the fullest. I personally like GTA4. You're right everyone is entitled to their opinion. Heck, I think MGS4 was overrated.

However, IMO in three hours you did not get far enough to see how good GTA4 really is. Some of the missions later in the game are fun.

What mission did you stop at?

Fixed for truth.

That being said there's an insane difference between the reviews and the comments from gamers. A lot of negativity for this game. I hope for R* and TT that they didn't make the first step in killing the franchise. Killing in the sense that the next game will be far less hyped and sold, because people don't like IV.

It does prove that graphics aren't everything, cause I'm sure a lot of people love the GTA3 games.

I stopped at the mission, where i'm on the bike chasing the train.

Has a review site ever admitted months or years later that actually they got a review score very wrong?

Or does too much money change hands these days!

I only ask because I remember NME music magazine in the UK giving the Oasis album 'What's the story morning glory' a terrible score, but a couple of years later changed it and admitted they thought they were wrong.

Learn to drive and play for more than 3 hours. Driving is not that hard.

LOLL the steering in that game is just awful, and im a good driver

I agree that it really sucks at first. But after you've tried driving for maybe 5-10 hours, you'll get used to it and you may even find it to be improved over the old system.

Benga: I see GTA4 as Rockstar's dark horse. GTA4 was a change in the series that many fans disliked. Hopefully Rockstar ignores these complaints though. A possible outcome is that they may try to return to the style of the old GTA games, but with a noticeable drop in quality. Hopefully that won't be the case.

And you don't think Wii games can be hyped? No, I didn't see a single ounce of hype for Brawl, or Mario Kart, or Super Mario Galaxy, or any game before the Wii's launch (regardless of quality).

I'm going to have to agree with the OP as well. I rented this game (fortunately) and played it like crazy for a few days, and definitely enjoyed that bit of time with it, but all too soon I found myself looking up the cell-codes and seeing how much damage I could wreak with the chopper and all the weapons.

I can usually tell I'm bored with a game when that kind of thing starts happening, so that's the day I returned it.

That being said, I know a lot of people who did like it quite a bit, but sometimes the open-sandbox thing becomes too big for it's own good and you have 5-6 different mission paths on the go and it just becomes bleh.

There's my .02 :)

The over hype and the retarded driving style F'ed it up.I hope they use the old driving style for the next gta.

PS3 to surpass X360 WW sales by Q2 2009

it was way over hyped. and vice city stays my favorite GTA game

GTA IV is awesome.

EDIT: But I'm not addicted to it.

i mean it is good just not as good as the hype and reviews said it was

I just wish GTA would choose one or the other, realistic or unrealistic. Every new GTA they make the game more realistic, but don't get rid of the more cheesy elements of the series. So the cheesy parts go from being charming to being infuriating because they clash so much with the rest of the experience.

That's why Vice City was the pinnacle. They didn't bother with any illusion of realism, they embraced the cheese and turned it into a great game. San Andreas added some sickening "realistic" features (having to eat, having to maintain relationships, god awful distances) but for the most part retained the cheese. GTA4 though...I don't know, the transition from some of the cheesier aspects of the game to the realism was jarring to me. What happened to driving a car until it blows up? All of the sudden they decide to make the car stall if you cause too much damage? Yet you can fly through your windshield on not die. Then the change in the cop dynamic pissed me off, because now I actually avoid running over people because 1 star is so much more of a pain in the ass.

Don't get me wrong, I love GTA4, but that's because it's GTA. It just seems to me they are going with more and more realism in the series, and I don't like it. To lose the satisfaction of blowing somebody's head off in a cartoony fashion was one of the few joys I had in my life! :) j/k
