I see it overtaking movies as a medium within the next twenty years. And movies overtook books long ago. And books are still around now.

Almost all electronics in the world will be destroyed around 2009. Terrorists will set off EMP bombs over major countries. Therefore wiping out electronics in a global scale. Massive amounts of data and history will be lost. This might also end the glory days of video games. The world will turn to chaos.
