These two franchises are huge in NA. I never got the first Guitar Hero, but got the 2nd and 3rd one for the 360. I loved the 2nd one but the 3rd one just didn't feel as good as the 2nd one. Probably because Harmonix, the one who made Guitar Hero II, was bought by MTV Games to make Rock Band. I bought Rock Band, and i was amazed!!! It is awesome!!! I love both franchises but so far i like Rock Band better

Well I will wait till GH IV before I choose. I only own GH3 for wii so we shall see. Plus Rock Band pretty much screwed wii owners over

Rock Band has DETHRONED Guitar Hero 100% in my mind. GH3 sucked compared to Rock Band. Guitar Hero is terrible with DC also...

Yea but for a wii owner rock band 1 isn't even worth it. They haven't even talked about rock band 2 if there will be DLC. If they don't they pretty much screwed themselves for wii owners

i dont own either, if i were to buy one, i would get guitar hero as its alot cheaper than rock band

Guitar Hero is the bigger franchise. You may not prefer the direction of GH3 but nevertheless, Activision brought it to another level. Now we will see which one sells more this Christmas but I'm confident it's Guitar Hero as it's the one that treats all platforms equally. Rockband gives all its got to the 360. Oh and Guitar Hero: World Tour look much better than Rockband 2.
