confusling haha. I got nothing to make it more logical haha.

i dont understand a thing but .... good lol.

It's shipped figures, it's not like all shipments from the last quarter disappear when a new one begins.

what?

Maybe the 360 is more stocked at retailers than the PS3 in the various regions. This seems to be the case at local dealers for my country.

In any case it's nice to see the PS3 (considering entry pricing) and PS2 (considering market saturation) both outsold the 360 to retail for this period yet again. The PS2 outsold the 360 by many millions of units during Sony's last two fiscal years (about 28 sold to retail in total, almost double). The PS3 also outsold the 360 by more than 1.5 million units for 2007. For the first quarter of 2008 the PS3 also outsold the 360 more than 1 million units to retail.

Combine this with Wii sales the 360 already lost an amazing amount of market share within a short timespan. Like I stated before I think this year will be the final good sales year for the 360. Nearly all major XBox games already received 360 sequels (only the multiplatform Starwars and Fable 2 remaining). Microsoft failed to really capitalize on its entry pricing advantage compared to the PS3, as well as with regard to its 1 year or considerably more headstart for the various markets.

With games truly eyecatching games like God of War 3, Killzone 2 and Resistance 2 coming out soon, as well as Playstation Home and greatly improving Blu-Ray penetration I think the 360's long term outlook looks pretty bleak as expected.

ROFLOL...and more importantly, M$ profits didn't plunge 50%! Doesn't matter if you win the sales battle, if in the end, you end up losing your job because the shareholders are tired of losing money.

Both Sony and Microsoft only disclose shipped consoles in their financial reports. The sales analysis who track console sales have to use best estimates on console sales numbers. Only Nintendo record actual console sales numbers in their financial reports.

Like always, it's the upcoming holiday season which will be far more important.

Sony is generating a still healthy profit despite employing many more people than Microsoft does for many years now, focussing on a much more varierty of top notch products.

They ran a profit overall and their gaming division again turned a profit like for the last holiday season, the long term outlook is actually pretty good financially. Microsoft has a monopoly with regard to the PC market which will bump profits for many years to come unless there's going to be a new and fair antitrust case. Sony is competiting within highly competitive markets and performs rather well compared to its various consumer electronics competitors.
