Forums - Gaming - IGN Reviews soulCalibur4:PS3 version feels quicker and more polished

SSBB has a score of 93.5% so afr... It will be hard to beat.

I don't really put Brawl in the same category as games like Street Fighter, Tekken, Soul Calibur etc.

Yes Smash Bros is technically a fighter, but I don't find it directly comparable with the rest of those games as the gameplay (and expectations) are different.

Feeling slightly quicker and more polished due to an OPTIONAL install doesn't warrant a higher score.

Your interpretation skills aren't that great.  My complaint wasn't about a higher score but about mentioning things like that in a review that's for both.  Ya just don't do that.  It's not proffesional.  You review the 2 versions as a single entity if you are going to do both in one review.  If you want to cut to specifics on either version then there should be separate reviews.  That's what I disapprove of that because then reviews can be very biased and one sided that way.

So if the PS3 version feels better and whatnot... why give them the same score. I hate that they give some of the PS360 games the same score and then tell which version is better in some areas. It's just hypocritical to what they are trying to do.

Anyways not a bad score. 8.7 was around where I expected the game to get. Sounds like a fluid fighter.

Quicker refers to loading time. The PS3 version is missing trophies, rumble, and custom soundtracks. Maybe they are more equal than you would assume. Not to mention the fall update is hitting soon, that will allow you to do full installs on the 360 as well.

There is just such a small difference that it's not even worth mentioning, anyway, I would imagine.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

His criticism of Yoda is what I always wondered...his height. It seems like Yoda may be best for Yoda vs Yoda battles. (in terms of PvP)

It's like Oddjob all over again

Missed that. Hmm, I dunno if I would have the same take on that. I'll have to think it over. I don't see a reason to do two independant reviews, because then you might end up at the next step with two different guys reviewing them, and the inferior game getting the higher reviews(which has happened a lot at IGN with Wii verses 360 reviews).

It's like Gon from Tekken 3. He's so overpowered he breaks the game.

Oh yeah, that little peckerwood Dinosaur, I forgot all about him

Interesting comment:

"Yoda, on the other hand, is broken. As I feared since the first moment he was announced, Yoda's height makes him an almost ridiculous addition to the ensemble and he's quite possibly the worst thing to happen to Soulcalibur IV."

He goes on to say that Yoda owns all and is uber cheap.

"Furthermore, he can't be grabbed. Ever. He's completely immune to it -- even Yoda can't grab Yoda. This is a clear indication that Yoda's just there for kicks and shouldn't be taken seriously as a competitive character."

As for Darth Vader...

"Darth Vader feels like the only balanced character out of the three."

Or the monkeys in timesplitters 2, they were even too short to man gun turrets properly

I agree,

it is even more annoying when the port of a game comes out weeks/months after the original game and they use the same review with an added paragraph at the end. ( I think they did this with DiRT)
