Forums - Nintendo - Activision will truly benefit from lack of nintendo games this fall.

Disagree.

Activision's most important game is by far Guitar Hero 4. It is incredibly casual. Casual games is exactly what Nintendo is releasing. Thus, I believe that Guitar Hero 4 will not see a signifficant boost because of this, as it is also in direct competition - with a game from Nintendo.

CoD 5 could benefit, so could a lot of other small games. But I do not believe Activision is the main gainer here.

@Exblackman: No, you probably should've taken a right at La Jolla, though.

Every third party developer benefits from Nintendo's relative absence this fall, and Activision is no exception - even though smaller, more "HC" gaming houses would gain more than they would.

I dont think Activision will benefit the most personally as GH will always sell well and not even launch of nintendo games on a nintendo console would take away from that.

I think GH and 2 Star Wars would sell regardless and it's games like Madworld, little kings story, my sims kingdom, deadly creatures and de blob that will benefit the most.

I have this feeling that these games will bomb...I don't want them to of course....but it is a hunch I have.

I really hope i am wrong.

You have point except one thing there is no nintendo casual heavy selling game releasing in october or before not even mario party which I must say is wierd. So you have the casuals not buying any major realeases for at least a good 3 months then here comes guitar hero world tour just as the buying season starts.

Don't get me wrong I like your reasoning  but  can't I bring up a counter point.

Of course this is my opinion but I believe by nintendo not offering up more games this fall third parties will all see an increase in sells on the wii.The thing I want to say though is that Activison with COD and Guitar hero will be the one to benefit the most.

We already know that a gimped Guitar hero caan sell better on the wii than every other system except ps2(I believe)Now that World tour has dlc and the original buyers of guitar hero 3 will only have to get the game I believe this will slightly sell more than guitar hero 3 on wii and at a faster start.

COD:WW is already showing better visuals than the last COD on the wii.We already know it has some kind of Co-op and supports the zapper. It stated with a November release and with no big nintendo game in the way and buyers looking for someting to buy for the wii it is not to hard picture this selling better than COD 3 maybe even just over a million lifetime.

So what do you guys think am I on the right track or should I have taken a left at Albuquerque.

I think you are on point, les game traffic for the holiday season lets some of the good 3rd party games shine through.

It's hard to see how the situation could do anything but help sales.

If HC mean hardcore what hardcore games come out fall 2008 for the wii. I know 2009 lineup is is chuck full of hardcore goodnes for the wii but 2008 seems very thin.

Monster lab,Mushroom men, and, little king story or the only small company "HC" that are scheduled for the holiday releases that I can find. The rest are either made by developers which you weren't refering to or can classifed as casual.

I agree guitar hero and cod will have a chance to sell more.

COD 5 will sell a lot more than COD3.

The install base of the Wii exploded since the release of COD3.

I think Call of Duty's numbers will be one of the most interesting to watch this holiday season. CoD3 sold ok on the Wii and CoD: WaW will certainly do better, but I'm not sure if it will be a "hit" or not. I wouldn't be surprised if the PS2 version sells as much as the Wii version, but then again the Wii version could surprise me.

Guitar Hero will sell well, it's just a matter of how well.

Spider-Man: Web of Shadows will not make much noise on the charts(Q3 I believe). The Spider-Man games only seem to sell when there is a Spider-Man movie coming out.

As for James Bond, I have absolutely now clue at all. It's been a while since a Bond game has been released, which makes it harder to peg. Then you have the fact that this isn't going to be the same ol, same ol' FPS that the previous Bond games were(with the exception of Everything or Nothing). I haven't saw or heard much about the Wii version, but there is going to be a PS2 version of the game, which doesn't give me high hopes for the Wii version.
