My guess is, typical "man in the iron mask" story. Bowser spaws the first nest of kids, then deem them failure, lock them up in a dungeon somewhere and have them replaced by Bowser jr. No one noticed and no one really cared untill now, Smeags.

I'd say smeags: "one for all, and all for one!"
