cool thanks!

why do some of them have like 9 buttons and stuff?

What would you use them for?

And I notice they all have cords

Are wireless mouses bad for gaming?

I have a wired mouse now, but I'm sure there are drawbacks to wireless mouses

Thanks!

wireless is horrid. Typically they cant be as sensitive in game at all.

9 button is typically a bit overkill but you camn set all the buttons to do whatever you want. Like mr two right side buttons are forward and back for reg use but quick switch and reload in CS.

ya but i like using q and r for quick switch and reload, it would probably feel uncomfortable to switch it to the mouse!!!

well you can set all the buttons for marcos for WoW and such. Typically two buttons are to adjust sensitivity.

I've tried Razor branded laser mice (Microsoft Habu). They're pretty good, albeit a bit pricey. I prefer the almost-just-as-good-and-cheaper Logitech MX-5XX optical mice - they seem to be more accurate in linux than laser mice.

actually each mouse has a different lazer or strength of lazer. I think the Habu is like 1000dpi which is pathetic.

I have a Razer Diamondback and it was some of the best money spent on pc hardware ever, the feel is superb (precison, control, ergonomics).

Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation - LASER

I have a Logitech G5. The bean shape and weight was hard to get used to coming from the smaller optical mice included with other computers (such as Dell for example). However, the laser and the ability to change the sensitivity on the fly is great and it works on practically any surface (even on your head, arm, or pants) and best of all, the laser never goes into stanby if you don't move it for a few seconds. It ensures that the mouse is always ready to go when you are, especially if you're a camping bastard who never moves >_<

It does have it's problems though, the middle roller button is rounded at the end and it really starts to hurt your fingers when you have to press it a lot. Also, the middle roller also tilts left and right. This might sound good, but I can't seem to get the tilting to work in games or in general use (it works on Mac computers, especially working on programs like Adobe Illustrator on a Mac). The problem with the tilting roller is that when you want to click the middle roller, it doesn't always work and it'll either register as a roll, or it tilts and doesn't register.

Any wireless mouse should work ok. I do not see the point in buying the top of the range mouse and keyboards. Logitech is a good brand.

If the thread starter is going to use it for gaming, just any mouse wont really cut it. The higher DPI lasers and more buttons gaming mice have make them a much better choice than just any other mouse. Not only can they work on more surfaces, they have better feet to help them slide around on a desk with greater ease, they can adjust sensitivity on the fly, they're made for you to more easily grip them, they have more buttons for more commands in and out of games, and they're also much better than regular mice at general purpose things too. Like I said above, my gaming mouse was an amazing friend to have when I hooked it up to a Mac computer on capmus to work in my graphic design classes.

I wont disagree when it comes to the keyboard, I've been using the same Dell keyboard for the past 5-6 years lol. Though there are better ones, especially ones that are actually USB as opposed to PS/2.

I'd just get the cheapest standard logitech mouse on offer to be honest.

I game regularly with an old logitech mouse (cost about $15-$20) and I can still beat other players using 'pro' gaming mice.

You only need a pro gaming mouse if you like to turn up the sensitivity of your mouse super high. If your like most people and keep the settings at medium I'd say to just stay with a cheep optical mouse. Logitech and Microsoft are the best IMO.

You don't need a 'pro' mouse, but something like this ought to be a decent choice for something better than the basic mouse.

I honestly just use a $10 Basic Microsoft Mouse corded of course wireless is to slow for PC gaming.

And it does work very well I've gotten a 107 second score on Minesweeper Expert with it and I also am very good at fast paces FPS games like Quake and I am just using a basic mouse.
