I am upgrading my third and final pc and i want to know what gpu should I get. 

i want to know which is better and also when does the 9800gtx+ releases. 

Also my pc will have 4gb ddr2 6400, and a e8500.

I am not interested in sli or crossfire for this pc

9800+ is already released. NewEgg had it in stock.

is it better than the 4850?

yes, at times. Some games the 4850 runs better are resolutions of 2560 x 1600 but overall from what I can tell the 9800GTX+ is faster.

As far as price-performance goes 4850 is the best you can do right now.

edit: unless Nvidia dropped the prices, i haven't checked in a while.

umm... the GTX+ is 199... isnt the 4850 199....

From most of the reviews I have rad the 4850 is faster. The 4870 even takes out a GTX280 in some games...these new cards from ATi are really impressive. They stepped their game WAAAAAY up this time around. I am very impressed!!!

Ah I See, it's GTX , must be a pretty new release, a while ago when the 4850 was released it was pretty much a slap in the face to Nvidia, a really cheap card that could outperform cards a lot more expensive, this must be their response., from the looks of it their performance is roughly the same, but i know ATI is (or already has) releasing a new set of overclocked 4850s
