Forums - Sony - Am I alone in that I don't think I feel like finishing GTA4?

I disagree with the crowd saying that it's everything you'd expect and that's what the problem is. The problem is that it lacks basic things you expect.

I very much enjoyed playing the game for the first 15-20 hours but my opinion was first checked somewhat when I realised that there was not going to be any property to purchase. This not only made all the money I had almost worthless it also removed the various missions connected with the businesses you buy in SA. Oh well, I thought, that will be made up for later. But it isn't.

There are far fewer things to do to make 100% and they're nowhere near as varied or 'whacky' as the ones in SA. And then when I did it all I find I get given...infinite ammo? Where the hell is the tank? You do get an attack chopper for the pigeons but it's less satisfying than the chopper in VC (which also came with missions) let alone the harrier in SA.

In short, the map has shrunk in size and variety, there is much less to do outside of the story, the second half of the story missions are repetitive and tedious, and what you win is much less worth the effort than before. To say that this game is more of the same is a real injustice to the previous games. Yes it adds very little new, but it also takes so much away.

Exactly! Along the same lines of what I said. Everyone read this post.

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

So boring

I notice in my local CEX store there are about 30 preowned GTA4s across both PS3 and Xbox 360 but not 1 preowned HALO 3 or COD4 so from that I guessed GTA wasn't the game it was hyped to be.

I won't ever play GTA4 again. I've played every GTA (even the Gameboy one!) and IV was the worst. I rented it and got to 25% I think, and it was a chore for me to play it. I wanted to get my $6.50 worth, but I couldn't wait to hand it back in to Blockbuster. Everything wrong with it was mentioned here (useless money, phone calls, features that can't be played/used). I had more fun with NBA 2k8, and I used to hate basketball games.

Halo 3 sucks too BTW...

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

The ending is great, I'm really glad I played both.

Hey Naznatips, if you're reading this, doesn't this thread seem like a nice place to have that GTA4 argument we never finished? Plenty of nice space...

i feel u man. gta 4 was a great disappointment! it did not deserve any of the 10's it got whatsoever. i havent played that game in a really long time, but im hoping i can get into the mood of killing random people eventually but for that i can play cod4. gta sa in my opinion was da best. in gta 4 it takes forever to get to places and it gets really lame.

I didn't get that far into GTAIV but it was pretty fun from what I played of it. Might pick it up again if I have the time

...why would having the game on blu-ray (and thus even bigger and longer)make the game more fun. if you don't like the game blu-ray would just serve lengthen the agony.

Having more space (theoretically) would have allowed for a more expansive and varied game ala San Andreas. I'm sure that most people, like me, wanted the game to expand even further on San Andreas' ideas.

Hmm, rockstar never mentioned the DVD as a limiting factor, but they did say that they had to limit the game somewhat  (360 and PS3) because not all 360s have hard drives to stream from, and MS won't let the game be different for those 360s w/o a hard drive.

I thought that when the main story stepped up from the other missions, the game was interesting to play. Otherwise, I was getting really bored of the missions.

Because I had to return the game (my room mate rented it), I'm right at the last mission of both endings. All I'd have to do is complete that. Still, after multiple tries and getting so annoyed of the mission restart system (you have to go rebuy your ammo and armor), I got fed up.

I too have not played it in quite some time and will not beat it unless they patch in some trophy support. I'm only in the part of the game where Roman's shop gets burned down. I've tried to enjoy it, but it's too damn repetitive and boring, despite what the reviews say. Too bad I got caught in the hype and went ahead and bought it.
