Oh so many choices...if I have to choose just one then I'll go with Cyan Garamonde...so much will power to overcome the tragic of life...
Then:
Squall
Sabin
Laguna
Auron
Balthier
Magus
Kefka
Cloud
Musashi
I have to admit that @Onyxmeth had a point with Einhander's pilot >_> Damn,I love that shooter too! ^_^

But some of you guys are listing SquareSOFT characters. He's actually talking about a Square ENIX character...! o_o

Because the amount of Enix games people have played or remember are highly disproportional to that of Square games.  Meaning next to none in comparison.

And pretty much every character that has been named has been made by the Square side of Square-Enix.  If you want to name a Enix character, you'd have to go for someone like Alena (Dragon Quest IV) or Yangus (Dragon Quest VIII) or Claude (Star Ocean 2) or Marina (Mischief Makers).  All of which I'd pick over most Square characters, unless we're talking Final Fantasy VI or VIII who were focused on the characters.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

Does he really?  I mean... Cyan has that crap happen to him...

but shortly after he actually meets his family who says "It's ok... live on.  We'll check you later we're taking the ghost train to the afterlife..."

So he knows his family still exists in some way...

and even then you need to beat some side quest before he's still over it.

Still he is an awesome character...

Like his reaction to the waitress....

and the fact that despite being all uptight you can still find... "something" when you re-recruit him that shows he's human.  If i'm remembering it right... I think it was edited out of the FF3 SNES version but was in the Playstation version.

Well i think he means there hasn't been many characters named AFTER the merger.

As in... Square and Enix were a lot better before the merge apparently at making memorable characters.

Enix is more tough just because they didn't make most of their own damn games.

okay I add Capoeria and Gas-O from bust a groove to add enix characters in my best list
