Damn, are you moving your console while its on, or keeping it in a small, closed space? Cause that's a lot of replacements...

It is on an open shelf away from the wall and I never touch it as I know the DVD can eat a disk if the unit is bumped.  I've just not had great luck with it as I'm very careful with my electronics.  My first 360 died 3 or 4 months after getting it.  It just stopped reading disks.  My second, the DVD drive started making seriously loud noises so they replaced it.  Number 3, same thing, but this time it failed to read again -- just like the first.  Number 4 had a power supply fan rubbing the side of the case.  It did it as soon as I opened the box and got progressively louder.  One day I turned it on and it sounded like someone had put playing cards in the spokes of a bicycle and was riding around in my living room.  I called tech support and they told me that was normal.  I turned the unit on and held out the phone to the deafening sound of the fan grinding against the case.  He agreed that maybe that wasn't normal after all.  That brings me to console number 5, that just TRLd.  It goes back and I'll have number 6.

I figured I'd gripe at a supervisor and here is what he said:  All units going out now have Jasper hardware (that's the newest die shrink, correct?)  If that is the case, it should come back with an HDMI port (I have the older hardware).  We'll see I guess.  He was actually a really cool guy and owned all three of the latest gen consoles.  Whether he knows anything for real or not is anybody's guess, but he did tell me to watch for an "Ultra" model this fall.

If you told me you have FIVE 360s RROD or break, I'd say, "Meh, that's not all that crazy, I see it all of the time on the SA forums." But I don't believe anyone has had two PS3s break.

Ouch. My first 360 lasted less than 24 hours (just wouldn't boot, no RRoD or other lights), so I just got it replaced at the store. I didn't want to get a refurbished (used, broken, then fixed) unit after using my brand new system for less than a day. My replacement system has been fine since then, but I've only owned it for a few months now.

My launch Wii got replaced in February 2007 due to an overheating GPU. I noticed some random artifacting (speckles/spots) on the screen whenever it was doing any 3D work and called up Nintendo for a replacement. I've never had any other systems break on me.

@Kn, they connected me with a supervisor as well...without me even asking at that. Did they have a rep. call you after you placed the repair call? I have a personal rep. thats giving me updates on the process. He also assured me that the units are all being updated and returned with new hardware just as the supervisor told you. Oh and just an fyi, the rep. called yesterday and told me there is about a 4-5 day delay at the repair center. So your repair might take a lil longer than expected.

This is the biggest reason why I am looking at PS3 as a potential 2nd console instead of 360. The whole reason I play on consoles is because I expect those console to NOT break down. I still have my original NES console and it takes a bit of work to get the cartridges to read, but it does still play.

Seppukuties is like LBP Lite, on crack. Play it already!

Currently wrapped up in: Half Life, Portal, and User Created Source Mods
Games I want: (Wii)Mario Kart, Okami, Bully, Conduit,  No More Heroes 2 (GC) Eternal Darkness, Killer7, (PS2) Ico, God of War1&2, Legacy of Kain: SR2&Defiance

My Prediction: Wii will be achieve 48% market share by the end of 2008, and will achieve 50% by the end of june of 09. Prediction Failed.

LOL!  That's hilarious.

Ultra!?  What does that mean?
