Forums - Sony - New Resistance 2 footage!

I'll admit I didn't really like the first Resistance but this game looks amazing, wish it was coming out on 360. The game looks absolutely great but to say the character models are near pixar levels is just not true ssj12

Damn good footage.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Oh and by the way, I found the first Resistance to be OKAY... kind of generic as well. But the second part looks to be much, much better.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. It looks like they are focusing on fixing the problems with the first one. The cutscenes are an example of this, since they were pretty bad in the first. But now they look really good.

this game is going to be deep no hell, but that vid has already been posted

omfg, do you see the quality in the character models in the cutscene... thats nearly pixar level.

It's the same engine that was used in Ratchet and Clank (the closest thing to a Pixar movie to date), so I would expect outstanding Character models.

The biggest disappointment for me in resistance was its lack of graphical finesse. But this looks SO much better ie much higher quality textures in enemies and enviroments. altho one weird thing is that the huge leviathan boss is insanely deailed compared to the buildings hes destroying etc i mean its a bit distracting how low res they are compared to it.

Just a stunning clip. I wouldn't worry about the generic backgrounds, those are always the last to be polished - game-play, weapons balance and player textures come first. The water effects on the bay are particularly impressive: that's all being generated in-game.

R2 is raising the bar not just for shooters, but for role-playing and epic action games. What's scary is that this is just the beginning for the PS3 - the best is yet to come.

Resistance 2 & Little Big Planet are my top PS3 picks for this holiday.

For now anyway. I'm getting kinda hyped about both and it's been a long time since games had that effect on me.

I don't know what it is, I just don't seem to be able to get excited about shooters anymore, at least not like I used to be. To me, this doesn't look to be any better game than The Conduit, and with the Wii controls The Conduit might actually be better to play. I guess part of the problem is that when graphics improve, it's much harder for me to activate my suspension of disbelief. For example, in the video, when you shoot at the leviathan, it looks totally bogus. I think the future challenge is not in upping the level of graphics but in creating a world that interacts in a believable manner. Maybe I'm a kindred spirit of Kojima and his dream of the next level of gaming :)

This game does look awesome, and it is almost confirmed that we will get to explore the giant warships
