Most people buy consoles in the third or fourth year of a console's life and the game library is well established and we can clearly see which console is on top.

Stop kidding yourself. The Wii has already won.

I didn't actually have a clue how well any of the consoles were selling until about a year ago, and I've not bought a new console since, so no.

I have owned a Gameboy, a PS1, a DS and a Wii. They each had the games that appealed to me at the time (you can probably guess how old I am by which consoles I bought at what time), and they were often bought before a clear winner was decided and sometimes the decision was even made before launch.

If you bought a console that is the market leader but it had no games that you liked. Well that would of been a terrible purchase.

If I bought a Wii I would regret it. PS3 and X360 have all the games that I want.

I can not be bothered upgrading my PC. PC's are expensive in Australia and Europe. If I lived in USA a PC would be dirt cheap and would be all that I need for gaming.

I always buy Nintendo consoles as they have the software I like. I like their major franchises :)

I wonder if people buy their consoles based on brand loyalty? Nintendo fans only buy Wii's. Sony fans only buy PS3's or PS2's.
