nope. screen's too small for that level of chaos.

I was thinking the oppisite.

Small screen is a good excuse for zoomed out camera when needed... I'm thinking 2-screened levels with 8 players or zoomed in on one screen and player tracked map on the other.  Less character detail but more chaos.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Jump Ultimate Superstars...?

I always figured "Jump" was effectively Smash Bros on the DS - haven't played it, but it always seemed like it to me.

me too, is similar to Smash but JUS is more "traditional" than SSB and more crazy too.

I would like it, but I reckon it would be better on the DS's successor. I don't think the current system could do it justice, but as a launch game for DS2 it would be great.

Sakurai said he wouldnt work on it but if somebody else wanted to then fine.

Its nintendo so I think they can make it work. And online cant be worse than the wii version plus DS has voice chat.

I'm hoping they'll make one.

You'd think with the huge success of Jump superstars and the sequel Jump Ultimate Stars in Japan and foreign countries even though there's only a japanese version available, it'd be a logical choice for Nintendo. But noooooooooooooooo we get screwed over.

For everyone that doesn't know Jump Ultimate Stars is a DS smash bros. like fighting game released in 2006 which pits the characters of the Jump Shonen Magazine's Manga/Anime against each other. Dragon Ball z, One piece, Bleach, Naruto, D Grayman, Death Note etc. Uses a card/board system which allows users to assign specific character cards (of varying sizes) onto a board on the bottom screen. This system allows for multiple characters that can be used in a single round and powerups to customise fighting styles.

This makes the game far deeper then what we've seen in Smash Bros and Melee (have yet to play brawl) because the card/board system lets players choose whether to focus on having as many fighters as possible or super powering a single fighter with stat bonuses. There are also support cards which bring out a cameo character that does something (heal, attack or status effects) and using them properly can string combo's which do massive damage.

Game isn't perfect though, there's 4 things off the top of my head that I can name that make the fighting a little broken (assuming people abuse those 4 things).

But it does have online multiplayer with relatively low lag, which is more than I could say about the Smash Bros series in 2006.
