Forums - Nintendo - Wii Legs Broken?

It seems the past month or so alot of Wii games legs in NA have been broken off it would seem. GHIII, SMG, M&S, and a few other games they had been holding steady are really slowing as of late. This makes sense for GHIII because now Rockband is out to take some of the sales, and Aerosmith might take some... but M&S makes little sense, with the Olympics approaching I would expect its sales to at least be holding steady.

I don't want to sound like Diomedes but I think SMG but be slightly low as of late. For one the past several weeks it has been outsold by Others SMG sales, Mario is not as popular in others, secondly SMG is STILL the best game on the Wii and definitly the best Single player expericance. Like I said it could be other games too, there are just 3 I always check.

Another thing. You can't really say MKWii and WiiFit are taking the sales. For one they are both ALWAYS sold out, and the NA user base is larger.

It just seems like SMG should be doing about 25-30k a week, M&S doing about 20-25, and GH3 similiar to SMG... But who knows... maybe all the MArioSboys have already boughten SMG =)))

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Nintendo is very mean when it comes to reducing software price. Zelda TP comes to mind. The sales will increase near Xmas, but full priced software can only sell that well when it is fresh (or as addicting as Mario Kart).

Mario and Sonic are in lower distribution cycles right now in prepearation for the Olympics.   This way they don't sell out their most recent disc pressing in one week and have to wait 2 weeks for another pressing and redistribution.

Mario Galaxy is selling less because shelve space allocation is growing tighter.   WiiFit, MKWii and SMBB ARE to blame (yes, I can honestly say I blame Wii Fit) because retailers need to ensure shelf space is there for these newer high demand products.

Anytime a title known for its legs is dueenly 'cut off', there is a 95% chance it's releatd to retail allocation and/or distribution.

Perhaps they understand the value it has for running homebrew software. Remember the Lumines (PSP) exploit for FW 3.50? May as well profit from something they can potentially lose out from in the long run.

WHERE IS MY KORORINPA 3

I think it being the middle of summer might have something to do with it. Maybe people are spending more time at the beach than on their Wii's(or PS3's or 360's). I wouldn't worry about it too much. Once the weather gets chilly, people will once again return to their living rooms.

Mario's legs are stumpy enough.

Fear not, SMG will keep selling, but it won't manage the lofty heights of MKWii and certainly not Wii Fit.

It will probably make 8 million eventually (unless another Mario platformer releases on the Wii)

SMG and Zelda: TP sales lately have been kinda discerning. Zelda:TP needs a pricedrop. Simple as that.

SMG however, American sales seem to be under tracked. But we'll wait for their finance report to say either way.

I missed this one. Please Nintendo raise Zelda TP price to 100 dollars.

This regards not reasonably reducing software price, not raising it.

All broken legs will eventually mend... and then start kicking ass again.
