Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft: We Keep Selling The Hard-Drive-Free Arcade Xbox 360 Because 'Consumers Like Choice'

The developers dont like them giving the consumers a choice

Around the Network

I have a co-worker who got a hard drive free 360. He's very happy with it (the fool!). There are people out there that think the arcade is a good deal.

Wouldn't it be easier (and cheaper) to just come out with "sku"? What does SKU mean anyway?

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Wouldn't giving consumers choice be something more like allowing users to use any blue-tooth headset? Or any 2.5" HDD?

That's like asking if someone wants dog shit or cat shit for dinner.  And please believe me that I'm not trying to knock on the XBox360 as a game machine.  I'm just pissed off at the way Microsoft wants to rape me in the ass when it comes to everything I need to buy to get everything that I want out of the machine.  Let's see, the XBox360, Wifi adapter (overpriced), XBox Live Gold (overpriced), and if I had bought the Arcade, an extremely overpriced HDD?  If I want a wireless headset, I have to settle for another overpriced peripheral.  Thanks Microsoft, you really gave me a choice in terms of which ass-raping I want.

I got an xbox live gold 12 +1 month membership for 39.99 last week at retail.

Also, I got the 120 gig hard drive off ebay for 92 bucks...here is the link.

If you shop around its hardly overpriced...Nintendo wii is much more overpriced but no one is complaining.

No one wants to rape you in the ass my freind. Xbox is pulling in a tiny profit yet they are giving you a price cut on a 360...I think thats fair.

Maybe Sony should do the same, Have a HDD free Playstation 3 so you can immediately put in a 500 GB HDD, That would be nice. And it can be sold for 299.99, buy a 200 dollar HDD, voila, choice

Cool, my friend got a brand new 40 GB PS3 for $350 a couple months ago off of craigslist.  Does that mean that we should use $350 as the PS3 pricepoint when discussing how much each console sells for?  When people say the PS3 is $XXX more expensive than the XBox360 should I say "whoa, wait a minute, my friend got one for $350 on craigslist..."?
