it's by territory, worldwide, sc on ps should outsell sc on 360. America, it should be 360 while europe and japan should easily be ps

You don't really know for a fact. Heck, I'd say that most fighting game fans are PS3 owners since it has Tekken and had Virtua Fighter 5 exclusively for a good while. I might not have said this, but Soul Calibur 4 is likely to sell more on the 360 than the PS3 in America, due to the userbase difference you described. But it will still sell a good bit more than the 360 version in PAL and Japan, which could easily put the PS3 version over any gap or fault that the 360 version would have created in America. Look at DBZ: Burst Limit or Devil May Cry 4 or even Dynasty Warriors 5. The only real time the 360 wins is when the game only has appeal to America and PAL (shooters, for example). |
I didn't state it as fact :/ I clearly said it was my opinion. You are certainly entitled to your opinion as well, and I think you're reasoning is fair too, but I'm still sticking with my own opinion :P
Soul Calibur has great mass appeal - it's got better accessibility than many other fighters, while still maintaining significant depth, a strong pedigree (isn't the original still the most highly rated fighter in console history?), and giant bouncing bewbs. It can't go wrong! As a result, sales will flourish unanimously

the ps3 version will sell better then the 360 version
Sansui: I suppose we can agree on that much. I'd say that Tekken has more mass appeal because it's popular in PAL, but the sales could show that.
P.S. Boobs are great!
Is SC IV really that popular in Japan? I had not realised, though I doubt Star Wars is going to have a much of an affect there. Anyway, I think the PS3 version will do better, as it will win in others and japan, and probably loose though only by a small amount in the US

Star Wars is actually quite popular in Japan. Lucas borrowed heavily from Japanese culture, particular Akira Kurosawa, when making the films. It was always easy for them to relate to the film, despite western production.
Gundam, one of the most popular eternal sci fi series in Japan, was also heavily influenced in turn by Star Wars. Star Wars represented the shifting point to complex narratives vs. simpler episodic content in many films and animes over there. Go go space opera!
Wow, I feel like a star wars nerd after spouting that off.... and I'm not even into star wars that much.

The 360 version will sell more because of the install base though the ratio for the PS3 will be better than the install base both because of Vader and the controller. The 360 controller is better for shooters but the PS3 controller just destroys it for fighters.

Really? That should help sales then
As an owner of both consoles, it's absolutely a no brainer. PS3 version is the one I'm getting because of the D-pad and Vader.
In Japan, certain American films are very popular. It's much different than their attitudes on American-developed games.
"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY." --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
