well 150 million of playstation could exist, but not 150 million users, millions of playstations are defective (30-50 million) and are many playstations redesigned like psone and ps2 slim (50- 70 millions) i think the real userbase of the playstation (ps1 or ps2) are 60 - 70 millions and if the ps2 users go to wii they have 60-70 million users, nintendo need a wii- lite to reach the 100 million mark, but maybe the new market help.

There are many shops doing PS2 repairs, do you honestly think a majority of defective PS2s are simply thrown away? Similarly I don't think a majority of the defective XBox 360s beyond warranty will just be thrown away with the trash.

well give a playstation 2 only 2-3 million of defective and without repair if you want but the redesigned ps2 slim begin in 2004 when the ps2 have 70-80 million, and the double buy factor (have the original ps2 and buy the ps2 slim) i think give the ps2 other 60-80 million (50 - 100 % of the original ps2), give the 150 million that the ps2 can have (remenber that this year only have 117.89 million to march 2007 according to VG chartz) and this mean that even if you quit importance of the defective and without repair ps2, the redesigned ps2 sell much ps2 units and with the double buy factor misnus the ps2 slim the ps2 have a userbase of approx. 70-80 millions, the userbase of the original ps2.

i like the PS2 but 100 - 150 millions of unique users or unique buyers of the ps2 i think is false.

As many people here have said and I have mentioned several times previously, this site is not Pro-Nintendo, it just looks that way because currently Nintendo is doing the best.

There are just as many hardcore Sony fanboys as there are wii fanboys (I think in this case the xbox is under-represented at no fault of its own). The rest of the posters are strictly VIDEO GAME fans, meaning in general the company that seems to be doing the best will get the most good comments and the least bad comments, while other companies will receive the reverse. That is the nature of this industry.

As for game ratings, averages are never consistent with a small data group, especially when there are fanboys on one side or another purposefully screwing around with things just to be annoying. The more users who faithfully rank games (instead of reacting to low scores by giving a 10, or to high scores by giving a 1), the closer to a real score a specific game would come. Unfortunately, this means users have to actually participate and that is the problem. Paid raters are...paid, so they have motivation. The general public is rarely motivated to do anything they don't receive some sort of benefit for. Hell, most countries rarely have over 50% voter turn out...I know up here in Canada the voter turn out is often as low as 25%...

This is just one site and it happens to mainly hav nintendo fans on it. There are many other sites like this with mainly MS/Sony fans on it. This is just one site after all.

Buying a console by a company doesn't make you a fan of that company. Hence the majority of people that buy consoles are not Nintendo 'fans' they like the new Nintendo console which is why they are buying it. Not because they are Nintendo fans or followers or something.

So this shouldn't be held as some kind of proof as to why the majority of people on this site are Nintendo fans as if that is the case everywhere and everyone has only been playing Nintendo for years...

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

I am really surprised by this, I skipped last gen myself, but I have now bought several good PS2 games for my PS3, namely Ape Escape 2 & 3, Jak 3 and God of War 1 & 2. They all seem to be excellent games IMO.

I think games like Jak 3 and Ape Escape 3 would be very appealing to Nintendo fans if ported identically to Nintendo platforms. God of War 2 is an excellent game as well, but a very different type of game gerne as compared to most Nintendo-style games. Personally I like this sort of varierity though.

Having said that I personally gave Super Mario World and Mario 64 perfect scores, as I would rate them 9.5 each for gameplay and design. Personally I try to give credit where I think it's due.

True! But I am not surprised about this all I said before that this forum has a lot Wii fans.

I loved all those PS2 games you named but Jak 3 is a kind of game that people hates and people loves.

Some people loved the first one but hated the style of 2 and 3.

For me it is (one of) the best stories in an platform game ever (and I am kind of guy who loves stories).

I guess I didn't voted yet for Mario 64 but I will give it a 9.  I loved that game Nintendo surprised me that time
only I miss a story that is why it doesn't get a 10.

The best platformer will be for me Okami. Damned I love this game so hard and the music and the story WOOOW.
Still have goosebumps when I think about it.

Those who vote games down that they haven't played aren't being honest with themselves. I don't see the purpose of convincing yourself something is terrible when you don't know anything about it.

Perhaps the case isn't that there is so many Nintendo fans here, but rather that there are fewer Xobx and PS3 fans here. If your console was selling as poorly as the 360 and sales news was getting worse every month, why would you want to spend time at a site that tracks sales of consoles? Plus, the 360 has a lot of games out now, so a lot of 360 fans are probably less interested in talking about it. To contrast, PS3 fans can either play PS2 games or go talk about the PS3.

There are obviously nintendo fanboys here stating that there are more nintendo fans , there games are the best and so on. The best games come on have always been on the ps2 the gamecube lastgen GC only had mario as good games maybe some pokemon games but so wat they werent as big as kingdomhearts, final fantasy, god of war, or even gran turismo. The xbox last gen only had one good game and that was halo, but so on without being "bias" I think that vgchartz isnt really invaded by nintendo fanboys or sony or microsoft, just some.

Many fans of other consoles get turned off here and go to forums like Neogaf, etc, instead. Certain games and companies here get slammed repeatedly (Halo series and Microsoft for instance) yet if you make negative comments about Nintendo games or the Wii you get placed in the crosshairs of at least one mod and eventually you either get banned or they send you a private message threatening to ban you or making sure you definately don't feel welcome.

Xbox had more nice games like NGS, Fable and go on.

GC dissapointed me Mario kart thing was not so good like Mario Kart before,  Mario Sunshine was in my opinion
one of the worst Mario platforms ever still it had some games I liked but not so much with the incredible PS2
library that surprised me a lot.
