Forums - Gaming - How come there are so many Nintendo fans here?

@Mike

But this is true. Ask some of your friends.

Not all people in this world are fanboys like "most" of us and stick with one company for ever and ever.

Most of them just buy the console that gets the most media hype. They are fans of the best selling system. For most people buying a console is like buying a mobile phone. Would you stick with provider a) if provider b) offers the "better" phones? I knew 6 people who owned a PSX and a PS2 in the past, now 4 of them already own a Wii. It got the most hype so they bought it. When you asked them 3 years ago which system was the best they said it was the PS2. Now they say the PS3 is crap and the Wii is much better (and they are all 20 years or older, so no little fanboys

Thats how the gaming business for most people works.

We´re not all die-hard fans. In fact most people are not.

They were buying Playstations. Now they are buying Wiis

There were more than 150 million home consoles sold for the previous generation of which a vast majority were Playstation products. With the Nintendo Wii not even having reached 10 million in hardware sales yet, I think such conclusions are a bit premature.

Way to selectively quote. I think I said "Wiis and DSs" which would account for about 45 million people (assuming half of Wii owners are double dippers)

If you can't see the writing on the wall yet, then take a step back and wait until next year. It's plainly obvious which system the old PS2 owners are buying right now, and it's not the PS3. Some people may be slow to realise this, but it will come to you next year I'm sure.

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

Try to find a non-Sony sponsored or non-Microsoft sponsored forum that doesn't have a Nintendo bias. I use 5 forums, all of them should be neutral, but they all have a Nintendo bias now.

It's weird too, because I have been a member of two of those forums for half a decade now, and they both used to be heavily Sony-biased. It was always me and like 5 other people defending bits of Nintendo against the PS2 fanboy onslaught that happened for years. Now on that same forum I see a thread title that's bait for a Sony/Nintendo flame war, I enter preparing to have to defend Nintendo again, but as I read it I realize it's 3 Sony fans arguing with over 20 Nintendo fans. I'm like "I could have used you guys a few years ago..."

well 150 million of playstation could exist, but not 150 million users, millions of playstations are defective (30-50 million) and are many playstations redesigned like psone and ps2 slim (50- 70 millions) i think the real userbase of the playstation (ps1 or ps2) are 60 - 70 millions and if the ps2 users go to wii they have 60-70 million users, nintendo need a wii- lite to reach the 100 million mark, but maybe the new market help.

It seems any console released by Nintendo is regarded higher here than any other effort, also if you look at the game ranking the top 10 is completely dominated by solely Nintendo games, while other fine games for other systems score well below review averages. How come this website is so much Nintendo fan dominated?

Did this website receive more coverage on Nintendo community sites or something?

BTW, I very much like the PS2 game Jak 3 which on average scored a measly 3 (!) on a scale of 1 to 10 from other VGchartz voters... This doesn't seem right, I recently bought the game based on some lofty media reviews.

Because Nintendo is the greatest gaming company of all time and Sony and MS are WiiK

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Not much has changed with regard to handheld consoles. Gameboys have been dominating the handheld market since release. The only difference is that now there's good competition from the Sony PSP, unlike the Atari Lynx and Sega Game Gear were able to provide.

I bought my sister a Gameboy Advance (which was stolen...) and I and my girlfriend own 2 Nintendo DSes, yet I prefer a PS3 as a home console.

IMO speaking like the way you do makes you a blind fanboy, as there are too many different factors to take into account for you or anyone else to be so sure about this all so early after the Nintendo Wii and PS3's release.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."

PS3 vs 360 sales

There are many shops doing PS2 repairs, do you honestly think a majority of defective PS2s are simply thrown away? Similarly I don't think a majority of the defective XBox 360s beyond warranty will just be thrown away with the trash.

well the vote system is a opportunity for fanboys, is you are a sony fanboy vote low the mario and nintendo games, and is you are a nintendo fanboy vote low sony playstation games, is sad but true, but peculiarly the game in top 1 " the legend of zelda ocarina of time " is the best game to many videogames magazines.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_games_that_have_been_considered_the_greatest_ever

ocarina and mario 64 are games that made a revolution in gaming world.
only a sony/microsoft fanboy can deny it.
but sony made good games... and...stop!!

we really can't say as gamers not fanboys that sony ever made a game that was a revolution in gaming world
good games but no excellent as nintendo ones.

this speaking as a gamer not as a nintendo fan.

User ratings are pretty flawed to begin with unless you have to put more effort into rating something than just a single click. Personally I haven't bothered with them at all.

There are a lot of Nintendo fans on this site because the weekly/monthly sales numbers are very pro-Nintendo right now, it's a very simple explanation.

infact he was speaking about a trend.

if you look at japanese charts:

75 000 wii

9 800 ps3

"houston we have a problem..."

those cannot be be only nintendo fans...for sure there are also sony fans that cannot afford a ps3...

then obviously sony fan will buy as soon as sony make a price reduction the ps3...

maybe...

history teaches...

lose first year lose the war...

betamax and umd ghosts are on the bluray...
