If you care about box office numbers, this is the most beastly, ungodly gross in the history of.....Forever.

Taken in context, no movie has ever made that much cash on a Monday that wasn't a holiday week. The closest one would be Dead Man's Chest at $18.1m.

It's a great movie, and certainly warrants discussion. TDK has a good chance of hitting $200m in 5 days - an incredible feat, as the closest movie reached $200m in 8 days.

Yeh I seen the movie at 6:30 yesterday (monday) and the place was packed, when I was leaving the theater after the movie there was a big line up at the door for all the people going to the 9:30 movie

That's amazing, that puts it at around 180 mil in such a short time. Too bad that no matter how good this movie sells, I don't see it coming close to beating the highest seller....Titanic.

Titanic is at $1.6 billion worldwide, as the highest-grossing movie ever.

However, if you look at TDK's sales, it *might* have a sub-50% drop next week, which is an amazing feat for a movie that debuted so high. It's quite possible the movie will reach $300m by the end of next week, if not assured.

That would put it on a pace to threaten the $1b barrier, and possibly even hit $500m in the US.
