Forums - Nintendo - The Wiimote confusion

I here people saying that the wiimote cant do any motion without the sensor bar. I just can't stand that. It seems they always forget that the wimote has an ir system. That why you can point at the screen. So without a sensor bar, all these duplicate contoller's won't have a pointing system ("cough" darwin controller n sixaxis ps3 controller). Do you hear people saying that about the wiimote?

Around the Network

No, I never heard people saying that about the Wii remote.

Well, it does need an infrared light to work.

You could just as well use two candles.

It can perform motion controls without it... but it can't perform as a pointer without the IR sensor.

Wii Sports doesn't use the IR sensor (+sensor bar) except in the menu screens.

The new add on Wii motion plus does need the IR sensor though..... I think it needs you to point at the screen so it can figure out where the Wiimote is in space... and then it will remember it's starting position and figure motions from there.
