For most games, yes, that's true.  Burnout is the only one that comes to mind that you don't have to play again.

they only game that awards you for your progress is burnout paradise due to the saving technique they use right now.So you don't ahve to play the game when the patch for trophie is released

I still havent got round to replaying Uncharted, though I am not sure that I will be able to play through a few of the later levels again. Oh well, I thought some of them would be retroactive.

This is the only reason I haven't tried to find all 61 trophies and beat it on hard mode. I'll just keep playing it on normal and when this finally hits, I will try my luck (the journey to the monastery on the jet ski in hard and super hard will be a b!tch).
