Forums - Sony - Ultimate Ninja: STORM

Ok, I know a few people have talked about this game a little bit, but wow.  I'm a fan of the Japanese Anime (English Dub is just horrible), but I've never really gotten into the games.  When I saw the demo for storm out, I thought, what the hell?  Lets try it out.

Talk about blown away.  This has got to be one of the funnest - if not THE funnest - fighter games ever released.  For those of you who are illiterate and can't comprehend what I just said - I did not say it competes for the BEST fighter game.  But theres no other game where you can move around like this.  All I want to do is sit there for hours dodging shurikens because it's just that fun.  I also like the button combos required to perform - or dodge - an ultimate jutsu.  The graphics - which has been discussed before I know - look great, they look as close to the anime as CGI-ically possible.  And the option for Japanese vocals is awesome.

Has anyone else who's played this demo agree in terms of how fun it is?  Unfortunately, games need more than that to be truly good games.  But I'd also like to think that a demo release this soon before launch isn't exactly perfect, and things will be changed.  In terms of wanting a fun game though - this is a day 1 buy for me.  Unfortunate for you 360 guys, even if you don't like Naruto.  This game is amazingly fun whether you like anime or can't stand it.  In terms of ninja combat, there's nothing that can compare to the depth of characters in Naruto, and if future games follow in STORM's footsteps, this could become something great.

Thoughts?

easily the best anime based game I've ever played. It's a lot of fun and I anxiously await the release in October (I think).

...

Played the demo its was ok but nothing i will buy.

I loved the ultimate ninja's on ps2, was excited for the one coming to ps3, played the demo and now me, my brother, and my cousin play that demo every day just to see who's better. If I can have so much fun with a demo then I have to buy the full game.

Elitist folks who couldn't tell the difference between a bad dub and a good dub (English and Japanese) amuse me.

I don't really get what you're saying, whether you're agreeing with me or calling me stupid.  I'll assume you're agreeing, because anyone who thinks the English version of Naruto is good ought to be shot, multiple times, and cut into small pieces - unless of course, you're 9 years old.

If you find the English dub to be any more annoying than the Japanese one, it's because you don't understand Japanese and the Japanese nonsense Naruto is continuously spitting out.  The Naruto English dub is firmly mediocre, neither good nor bad (though I disagree with some of the script).  The English VA of Naruto actually does the character a lot of justice in his portrayal and is probably one of the better roles in the dub.

On-topic, I actually got a chance to try the demo and it was pretty fun. Though... I didn't really like the button mashing minigame or rapid button tap minigames during special jutsu moves.

I have to say visually this is probably the most impressive non-realistic graphics i have seen during this gen, the gameplay feels a tad loose. Honestly if it wasn't old naruto I probably would buy it but I am waiting for a shippuden game.
