Forums - Microsoft - Fanboys and their "predictions".

It's funny, all of the stuff that goes on here.

But all I care about is that it means very little to me anymore. I now have a full time job from my work for Xbox Live Arcade sales, and talking about whatever the X360 does on VGC is just a small part of down time that I have.

At any rate, I do agree: since the X360 has had a rash of pretty good news lately (XIII, Netflix), the SDF is out and about. It's funny that the PS3 fans now mention that they have the shooter box with Killzone 2 and Resistance 2, and how the PS3 will trump the X360 due to it's ever-increasing (according to them) list of better exclusives. Oh well. I enjoy the inferior-in-every-way (according to them) Xbox 360.

But that's just the thing!!  I know all the numbers and trends and the ebb and flow of sales, I know all the games that are coming out (for ALL platforms), I know that all three consoles are doing fine and will most likely remain viable until the next round of stuff comes out. 

Why don't fanboys know any of this?  If everyone on gaming forums is such an expert on gaming, why don't they ever know the facts?  As far as I can tell, all three consoles have enough of a foothold that they don't have to worry about becoming the next Dreamcast.  Hell, if you really want to go strictly by the numbers, the people who should be talking the least amount of trash are the PS3 fanboys.  They are like no other fanboys I've ever seen on line.  The PS3 is still in third place, but its fans talk as if it's already won this fictitious console war that only gets waged on websites.

I have tons of answers to these questions you ask, and each answer I give will start a very big argument with these people you speak of. Bottomline, there are very irrational people on this site that need to justify their console purchase through putting down others' because they don't feel satisfied with what they have or feel they got the short end of the stick. That goes for fanboys of any of the three consoles.

Or maybe they just haven't clicked on my links yet.

Searching through an web forum, (especially VG forums) is kind of like swimming at your local sewage plant. You may find that odd gold ring that someone flush down the toilet, but for the most part it is all just crap.

This website used to have a pretty good community. A lot of good members with some big times trolls (Blue, GranTurismo, Gballzack, etc.). Trolls are a guarantee for any forum, but since the site has gotten bigger, trolls are more independent, random, and stealthy.

Before, trolls were flies. Now they're mosquitoes. If you'd do us the honor of reporting some damn threads, we might be able to swat them. But it's more fun to just fight with the thread creator, isn't it?

Seriously, I think that is the best post I have ever read on VGChartz to date. It captures the overall big picture and my similar feelings very well after about half a year as a member plus lurker on this website.

I was all caught up in this before and let the comments get to me as a 360 only owner, but I think all in all, this generation has more fanboys because theres just much more reason to be a fan now than the previous generation. Ive learnt to /ignore and focus on the more important thing - the games.

THere just one thing that bugs me though- its people who buy consoles to 'wait it out' when the games they want are on other consoles, and they chalk it up as some sort of honourable and virtuous deed.

Overall though, the site tracks sales and the community members (fanboys or not) are supplying the hits for it to stay in business. Im not sure that the creaters would want to see fanboyism disappear from their website!
