But that's just the thing!!  I know all the numbers and trends and the ebb and flow of sales, I know all the games that are coming out (for ALL platforms), I know that all three consoles are doing fine and will most likely remain viable until the next round of stuff comes out. 

Why don't fanboys know any of this?  If everyone on gaming forums is such an expert on gaming, why don't they ever know the facts?  As far as I can tell, all three consoles have enough of a foothold that they don't have to worry about becoming the next Dreamcast.  Hell, if you really want to go strictly by the numbers, the people who should be talking the least amount of trash are the PS3 fanboys.  They are like no other fanboys I've ever seen on line.  The PS3 is still in third place, but its fans talk as if it's already won this fictitious console war that only gets waged on websites.

I have tons of answers to these questions you ask, and each answer I give will start a very big argument with these people you speak of. Bottomline, there are very irrational people on this site that need to justify their console purchase through putting down others' because they don't feel satisfied with what they have or feel they got the short end of the stick. That goes for fanboys of any of the three consoles.
