No they don't! This only works for a while in a real market.

Is still the main business sentence and the basis for a long successful live as a business. Customers may be stupid but if they start to loose trust in a company you have a huge problem. So you may make more money by being the company equivalent of an asshole but this won't last.

So but why is Microsoft so profitable then and has been for years? Because its a damn monopoly. IT makes almost all of its profit with its Operating System and Office products both of which have essentially no competition to fear because MS has 95% of the market in both.

In almost all sectors where this doesn't help them they suck. Their Zune player is a failure. XBOX a huge money sink. Online they are killed by Google. Their mobile OS plays second fiddle to Symbian and has a bleak future against Android and Apple.

They are modestly successful in databases and web servers (after years of losses and suckitude in both) and have great development tooling with Visual Studio but this is peanuts.

because EA, Valve, and every other developer or hardware manufacturer isnt owned by M$? if they were there would be no PC gaming industry on the PC and it would be a Mac forum. that woud be so awesome.

Don't act like you don't know that this is a video game site. It's too freaking obvious that these forums were made to talk about the consoles and handhelds of the respective companies. So I pose my real  question: why not talk of MS stuff relating to the PC in the PC forum?  It's dead as it is.

So what forum is right to talk about whatever MS has done with the PC? You say the MS forum, which is dominated by xbox news and such, when it would be so much more related if you posted it in the PC forum.

I had to laugh at all those fruit lovers LOL LOL LOL.... you do realise it took a third of the time to compromise last version of OS X security than it took to compromise vista SP1.... so please before throwing OS superiority out of your asses check your facts.... I'd never equip any of my business servers(i I had one) with an apple OS...... NEVER....... even if they bribe me good....

now linux we are talking but still... in a lot of cases a distrib is good for one specific thing and another is for something else........ and honestly most people don't need linux...

Cool. That means I have a license to slam sony on the sony forum for things like the complete pig's breakfast they made out of ATRAC, the way they carefully design distribution of features on their pro cacorders so you always have to overspend on their products, then we'll move onto the failure that were some of its prosumer cameras early-mid 2000's and finally I'll get a few cheap shots at the bizarre joke its cell-phone division (ok, ericsson owns half of that so they'll get half the blame) has turned into.

Sony has a huge portfolio of products and some major blunders, can't wait until I say the ps3 sucks and deserves to be dropped from the market because Sony mismanaged the minidisc line.

 

The Xbox 360 experience is much better than other services and products they offer. Why?

Competition. MS is not completely running the show in the gaming business. They actually have to compete with two other companies and out do them with better offerings. If MS monopolizes the gaming industry (which is their goal), then we will see similar business model they apply to their OS and Office apps business. Overcharging for a product that is not all that great.

As far as my experience, I've had much more difficulty with MS than I have had with the other two companies. Re-installing Windows often and charging me $80 for a power supply that they lost are a couple of them.

Hopefully the Xbox brand never becomes a monopoly in the gaming industry. It's great as a competitor, though.
