Forums - Microsoft - Bioware’s Commitment to xbox360 Exclusive Mass effect Trilogy.

Okay, okay.  We get it.  Get it on PC if you want.  Let others get it on 360 if they want.  And let PS3 and Wii owners get it however they can.  There, thats that.

How is something exclusive when it's multi platform? A game on the pc is still a game on another platform that can be played on it in my book. Call it console exclusive or something, but not exclusive as Mass effect is clearly not exclusive in the form off only being available for 360 owners.

Could be the fact that very few console owners really give a rats behind about the PC, and vice versa. If the game comes out on only 1 console versus 3, guess which will get a higher benefit?

I don't give a rats behind about the 360.  Doesn't mean I'm going to start saying 360 games don't count and PS360 multiplats are PS3 exclusive.  Try a better argument next time.

I understand the logic but I sort of agree with mrstickball here as well.  I tend to think these 2 markets don't overlap quite as much as some people believe.  Maybe it's just my ancedotal evidence but I have a pretty big group of PC gaming friends and besides myself I'm the only one that seems interested in console gaming at all.  A shame too because the current PC market isn't exactly setting the world on fire.

Plus if they follow the same draconian-DRM scheme as the first Mass Effect they can keep it.  I won't invest ANY money to a company that restricts their customers that way no matter how much more "enchanced" they try to tout the version.

Well, I'm a PC gamer, and I'm interested in console gaming. Let me clarify that it's hard to know a PC gamer interested in console gaming because:
- There are hundreds of millions of PC gamers worldwide (more than all home console gamers put together), so even if 20 millions of them had consoles, it would still be below 10% of the entire PC gaming userbase.
- PC is considered the superior platform and roughly everything that HD consoles offer, the PC offers more and better. So the chance of a PC gamer having a console is reduced.

The 'draconian' DRM of Mass Effect is something that probably I probably would wish on many games, since it only needs to check the disk once when you're installing the game, and after that you can play Mass Effect as much as you want without any disk in the drive. Draconian? I think you're mistaken.

What're you talking about the PC gaming's state? It's healthier and bigger than ever. After a few "darker" years of PC gaming (which coincided with the beginning of mainstreaming DD services), now PC is in full force and the amount of awesome games coming out for PC proves it. Want proof? Then how about the number AAA titles that available this gen between PC and Consoles:

90% PC games - 17 (14 if you don't count standalone Portal, HL2:Ep.2 and TF2)

90% Console games - 19

Just the fact that PC has almost as much AAA and the entire PS3/360/Wii says something.

Yes but it also limits the number of installs you can have for the game.  Sorry but I'm not going to support a DRM racket like that.  Steam got PC DRM right and I own about 50-60 games on the service because of it.  I haven't kept up with Mass Effect PC but maybe they will lift the restrictions similar to Bioshock.  Until they do however my money will go elsewhere.

No, it does not limit your number on installs, they're unlimited. What the DRM does is:

- You can activate the game on up to 3 different machines. when you don't have enough activations, you just need to call EA/Bioware support for some more. And I'm pretty sure they'll release a patch that'll remove the DRM someday.

- Each activatted PC will let you install the game as many times as you want. So, unlimited installs.

- You only need to let them check authenticity once, when you're installing the game.

seriously, it's not that bad.

Who cares? :) It will be coming on 360, not on wii/ps3.

but mass effect (1)is not a exclusive, is on pc too.
i am picking that one next.

This just looks like a lot of fuss about nothing. PC and the 360 are both Microsoft platforms so it doesn't really matter. The PC crowd can get it and the console owners can get it for 360. It's a win-win situation for MS.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

@ twestern You didn't finish KOTOR II because of this bug? I guess you were unlucky (I finished it of course), but that doesn't mean it was a fail. It still is one of the best RPGs out there. Epic fail? No way.

Well yeah, I was something like 12 hours into the game and would have to start completely over if I wanted to continue so I said fuck that game, I was through with it.

I beat the game twice and never saw this "bug."

KotOR 2 didn't suck but it was disappointing to see the game completely rehash KotOR's theme and character designs.

KoTOR 2 shared a bug that KoTOR had that was annoying. One large area of a major planet ran very slowly if you had an ATI video card (which I had). Overall as a game though, KoTOR2 wasn't that bad of a game, it just wasn't as good as the first.

I haven't run into any game stopping bugs that have forced me to replay entire games. At worst, a game crash forces me to play since my last save. That has happened a fair amount of times. The only thing developers sometimes do that really annoys me is when they make patches that invalidate previous game saves. That pisses me off.

The bugs in ME were annoying but I never found any bug there that took away the fun of the game for me. The only major component of the game I didn't like was the driving. The landscapes looked like they were made with tinfoil and paint and the truck handled like a toy with balloon tires.

I give this thread a 9.6.

Thank god for the disable signatures option.
