Atari 2600 is 11th... Really?

You should have specified home consoles, and even then, why does it matter? The Wii isn't desperately looking for achievements, there's no reason to say that it's the ______ best selling HOME console ever when it could end up being the 2nd best selling console ever anyways (behind the DS).

Also, color me unimpressed. It's still early in this generation of course, but the market is growing very quickly and a lot of home consoles have been failures or have done average at best (this is the first generation where it might not be wide dominance for the winning console).

While it would still be in first.... has the 140 million figure been proved already? I highly doubt hey shipped 13 million PS2s in the last 6 months, especially as the Wii has probably shipped very near to 10 million.

Also perhaps this thread should have waited a week or so until Nintendo and SOny announce shipped figures, that way we can be sure about PS2, as well as being able to compare all consoles as shipped (instead of using sales for the newer ones)

Wow. I'm suprised that the Commodore 64 is as high as it is. I still have mine in the basement. I should hook it up. I have a gazillion games for it.

SNES- 49 million
MegaDrive - 30 million
TurboGrafx - 10 million (wiki)
Neo-Geo - ???
CDi - 500k

Still even without NeoGeo it was barely huge dominance for the SNES. 49:40
