The PS3 doesn't have DirectX 10.

Ergo, it can't run the Crytek Engine with the same results.

Wow.

I did not know that the PS3 can't run the game at the same level as a PC with DX 10.

You really illuminated me and here I was thinking maybe the PS3 version will look better than the latest PC tech.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

The 360 and PS3 do not have DX10 hardware, so it can't do "DX10 graphics", but I've heard Crysis still looks phenomenal under DX9.

Well...it really is a huge difference between Crysis on DX9 and DX10...but if the PS3 version is essentially DX9 but all maxed out, it'll still look good for a console game.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

well, i heard, they couldn`t make cry engine2 to run on ps3 and on x360 they got only 3-4 FPS.

Every 5 seconds on earth one child dies from hunger...

well i heard that the ps3 doesnt use direct x at all, but something entirely different. I'm not sure but i dont think the ps3 does... anyone know for sure, and not just educated guesses?

These guys make great engines. Whether it's Crysis or not, having them around should be a nice boon to the development community. Glad to see they are making a PS3 specific engine rather than just a general purpose engine for both Ps3 and 360. Both systems have their own strengths, and it's only by focusing on one or the other that they'll really excell above portland.

Of course, only MS console uses DirectX.
All other consoles use OpenGL and some other API instead.
So talking of DirectX for them is nonsense.

The only problem I can see with having it on the PS3, is it's small amount of RAM.
From here: http://www.gamesradar.com/gb/pc/game/previews/article.jsp?releaseId=20060130161216125099&articleId=200706129573775081&sectionId=1001&pageId=200706121061280027
You can see that to run at those kinda graphics, you're gonna need 2gb of RAM. The other specifiactions for the processor and graphics card, aren't going to be too much higher than the PS3.

However, the same website also has Crysis pages for PS3 and 360, odd.
