Forums - Sales - Guitar Hero: On Tour (DS) Sales question.

So Activision said that Guitar Hero: On Tour sold 300k units in the first Seven days, yet VG Chartz has it at 365k first week.

Are the weeks aligned?  Do they both mean the same amount of days?  It was just weird to me.

Guess no one else finds this odd.

You'd probably do better PMing ioi.  I know stuff like Carnival Games and RE4 (wii) had there sales above shipments for a while.  I don't think he browses the forums all that often.

EDIT: okay, well maybe sometimes lol

@ ioi

Ahh... So Activision undershot the game I assume?

Okies then ^_^

The "first week" of VGC data isn't a whole 7 days.

Their press release says the game sold more than 300,000 in it's first week in North America - we have 330,000. How do the two not tie up?

Well, Activision said "over 300k" which is kind of vague, that could mean 300,001.  I mean, I was trying to decipher whether it was Sold to retail, or actually sold.

So I said that they may have shipped more than 300k but only said that they sold "over 300k".

I didn't say that they didn't add up, but that it's weird that they didn't specify how much they shipped. Maybe they undershot how much they said that they sold.  But having the number shipped would be nice so that we could see where they got the 300k number from.

The Activision press release specifically said "first 7 days."

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

The numbers are close. Usually software is much further off, so this is quite an improvement, no?

This was no knock on the software numbers.

Just trying to figure out what activision meant by 300k and what were the shipment numbers.

I hope no one thinks this is an attack on the numbers cause it isn't.

The game also launched in Australia on the 25th, not just NA
