Forums - Sales - PSN Video Store in Japan, another blow to the 360?

Okay, so Sony is releasing the PSN Video Store in Japan this september, and the Xbox Video Store is not coming to Japan in the foreseeable future (not that we know of at least).

What will this do for the PS3 sales?

And will this make the 360 sales decline or will it go unaffected?

I think that if Sony plays their cards rigth and gets lots of japanese content up fast (namely animes), then I think the PS3 will rise to about 20k weekly.

I think that the 360 sales will decline a little but only like ~10% (not much of a difference)

They already have exclusive anime on their called xamd and the japanese eat that shit up.

I don't really expect to boost sales all that much though. Maybe just a little bit.

Oh yeah. It will help a lot. I definitely think that a few more PS3s would be sold in japan, as the japanese consumer would appreciate the ability to just download a movie that they would have had to get a DVD for, so it will save space in their cramped little rabbit-hutchlike apartments.

A much bigger benefit is that it will bring in a lot more $$$ and therefore could be a way to cut prices (again) sooner.

Yea, but that's one series. I think Sony will need to get more if they want a lasting appeal to the service

japan doesnt matter for the 360 anymore.

All the (timed) exclusive JRPGs on the 360 leads to the belief that Microsoft has at least not given up on Japan yet.

this may help the PS3 a little bit.

Well, end of August/September is when the 360 might outsell the PS3 for a couple of weeks in Japan because of Tales of Vesperia and Infinite Undiscovery.
