Never played it(it came out on the year i was born), so im playing it now on VC. Is the map that i see now the full map? I just started today and got the morph ball bomb. Now which direction do i go? I can't go to the wrecked ship because of the dumb green door.. Someone help me.

@blackbird, the map in blue is the places you havn't been. You can get a "full" map by finding the map room for the particular section of the game you are in.

Have you played Metroid Prime, its the same thing there.

Once you visit a room, the map turns purple. The single dots in the rooms on the map indicate a special item, i.e. energy tank, bomb, ball, ect.

Best thing to remember in this game is bomb everything you can. That is the easiest way to find hidden passages until you acquire the x-ray scanner.

Remember:
blue doors = any shot
red doors = 5 missiles
green doors = super missile
yellow doors = super bomb
grey doors = you must complete some objective for door to become active

I don't want to give it away to you, but if you absolutely can't figure out where to go, just Google 'Super Metroid Map'. There are plenty of full maps out there. I find it much more gratifying not using these existing maps as they also show you where items are and the hidden areas not automatically shown once you acquire the map for a certain section.

DMJ....I am disappointed in you. Get off VGC and get back to playing Super Metroid....now.

Seriously, though....did you get stuck?

I think he got stuck right after landing on Zebes. He probably can't figure out how to open the door, because the previous ones on the space station opened automatically.

DMJ...come on down to claim your ownage.

MISSION COMPLETED!!!

Whew, was that a great experience. 8 hrs later and still only 74% of items. :( boooo!.

I now I needed 1 more energy and 1 reserve tank, but I must have missed a ton of missiles and bombs. Oh well, maybe in a couple of months I'll try again to get 100% this time.

Hardest boss was that damn bug thing in Maridia. sob. At first I kept getting caught in its sticky goo and then it pummels you multiple times that take 40 hit points every time. sob.

Mother Brain was much easier this time as compared to the original. Ridley was the only other boss that took more than one try, two technically.

Well, I have some stuff to do for getting started in my MBA program and some side work on a website. So, I will postpone my VC play throughs for a couple of weeks. I will let you know what I jump into next!

I can give you a neato hint/trick on the "bug thing in Maridia." I never used it until I was going for speed runs....but it sure makes it a lot easier.

PM me if you want it.

Congrats on beating it....but the real challenge is getting 100%.

I bought a copy of the game about seven months ago, new never opened, still wrapped in plastic foil. I will eventually open this package, some time in the future
