Got a PS3?
If yes, get a PSP.
They even have 32 gig memory cards coming out, but those are going to cost you close to $300-400. At least it will make the 16 gig ones cheaper. I got my 8 gig for $70.
I use it for mostly music, but I wanted something with flash memory (HDD's=fail cause they crash), but I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg for just a music player, so I went with the PSP.
You also get demos and all kind of downloadable goodies on the PSN store which the DS has nothing to counter. You do not need a PS3 to do this either. You can even use Sony's movie download service on your PSN according to the PSN store.
We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls. The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke
It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...." Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson
I bought a DS over a PSP because the "PSP has bad battery" "load times" "games are pretty but I prefer fun to looks" "price" and "it's less fragile" I then just pressed backspace on my keyboard and my story got erased right before I went to post it.
I had just type a 4 paragraph review of my experience with buying a DS to keep me busy between class, take a break while working on projects and bus rides home.
I'm a Sony fan(I said fan not fanboy) but thought Nintendo has the clear edge when it came to portables...I'll reype my experience some other time.

A port of which Mario Kart exactly? It features 4 tracks from each of the previous versions, and 16 completely new and original tracks. It also the first to feature individual stats for all the karts, and introduced drafting into the series. Calling it a port implies the game exists on another console before it, and that is simply not true. MK:DS features as many new and unique tracks as any other entry into the series, and introduces more mechanics changes than most.
it's pretty simple: do you like games? and only wanna play games (good ones too) buy a DS
you wanna do more stuff? like see pictures, watch movies, listen to music?
buy a PSP..simple

that looks biased..>_<
he asked for a reason...lol..
@deathcape
homebrew,multi media,better graphics,better games(thanks to ps1 games)....PSP is for hardcore gamers
PSP is mega shit. I have one but luckily didnt buy it. It was gift. Ive tried to play all kinds of games they all suck. A few anime game only because I like the anime and God Of War are the only games I would play for it.
DS is superior and with an R4DS you can make it do most of what the psp does thats actually worth doing and more. DS library is way better no reason to own a PSP and I cant wait to buy my DS.

better games? hardcore gamers?
XDDDD you make me laugh ^_^
all it has are hardcore games, and it doesn't have 'better' games...all you can say is 'good' games..
'better' is an opinion...I think Ds games are better, but it's not what he asked for
the DS has MORE games..MORE hardcore games than the PSP, sells better, will live longer, will continue to grow in games
as for graphics...who cares?...besides that..the PSP is really fragile..while the DS is really sturdy and better protected (essential for handhelds)
and the DS has better battery life.. >_< (way better)
I understand you're a PS fan ^_^'' but please think realistically?
look..the PSP is really awesome: homebrew, multi media, bigger screen(good for movies)
but if you honestly look at the games...and you want good ones..they are few and far between...
