Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo's Third Party Strategy?

I actually doubt it. Nintendo does it's own thing, third parties be damned. While the (highly relative) lack of heavy hitters this winter (so far) does open the door a bit for third parties, that's more of a happy accident than a deliberate strategy.

I also don't think they tried this strategy on the DS: they just shifted resources towards the Wii at the same time that third parties finally started to "get it." It seems like third-parties are doing the same towards the Wii now (right on schedule, might I add), but Nintendo isn't going to hold itself back just to benefit others. It never has, and it never should.

Around the Network

Third parties don't really have enough time to hype, and release some "five-star" software, but if I were a third party, and I had a game like Okami or No More Heroes for the holidays, I'd do a back flip right now!! No Nintendo? Now is the time to strike!!

Sorry, I dont believe a word of this.

Ninty shifted focus from the DS to put developers to making Wii games, not to give 3rd parties a fair go

3rd parties are already starting to take the Wii seriously, and their games, if good and advertised, will sell regardless of what Ninty does.

Ninty is bringing out many good Wii games in the near future, it just doesn't look like it because unlike Sony and Microsoft, they announce games very shortly before release

Maybe it's intentional, matybe not. But hopefully Nintendo will direct most of it's focus on having hardware and software actually in stock this year. Wii's and Wii Fit, and Mario Kart. I still can't believe people are paying $70 on half, amazon, and ebay for Mario Kart. And $140 for Wii Fit. And $320 to $350 for Wii's.

If Nintendo can move tons of consoles this year to broaden the lead between Wii & the HD twins, we will still see better support. There are companies that will continue to push shovelware, but some companies (or stockholders) will want to figure out how to profit from this rapidly growing userbase.

So intentional or not, there is opportunity for everyone with the Wii the last half of this year.

BAM! There it is!
