20.3 million units shipped to retailer
Currently playing on PS3: God of War III
Currently playing on Xbox360: Final Fantasy XIII
Currently playing on NDS: Chrono Trigger
Whats more important is the fact that this article alludes to MS having a profitable quarter.
Awesome. History has shown that the second console to reach 20 million generally wins!

Whats really awesome, all jokes aside is that this gen will be the first gen where all 3 consoles will be viable. As all 3 have significant 3rd party support. My how games have grown as a business.

Just to clarify, Microsoft's Entertainment division had a profitable fiscal YEAR (~$400m). Their latest QUARTER actually saw a loss of just under $200m.
The number in the Kotaku article is obviously a shipped figure.
End of 2008 totals: Wii 42m, 360 24m, PS3 18.5m (made Jan. 4, 2008)
Ahh the quarterly shipped vs. sold debates. How we missed thee.
Never seems to be about the Wii... admitedly for good reason at the end of December and beforehand, but the end of March VGC was 1 million+ behind Wii shipments and no-one complained.
Perhaps, as this will be the second time Wii sales are below shipments (Nintendo finally sorting supply out), we might get the odd thread asking why Wii figures have not been increased?
I am doubtful though.

It would seem that both the Wii and Xbox 360 have their supply issues sorted out - The Wii has enough (generally) to meet breakneck demand, and the X360 isn't stuffing the channel ala Q4 2006.
It's nice to see that Xbox 360 shipments to retailers were up over 1m units this past year - always a good thing. With shipments that high, we should see roughly 16 million Xbox 360's sold in the next 2 years, bringing the total to 36m by 2010.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
