I would put good money that many fit the same criteria of being added or not. Is it because there are options in MGS 4 to not shoot? There are options in Bioshock to use a wrench and plasmids all day long if you so choose. It's still a shooter. If you want to make an argument, at least name the 14 games you're speaking of. If you consider Lost Planet or Crackdown as shooters, than Ratchet and Clank is a shooter too. Looking like a cartoon doesn't disqualify it from what it really is. people who are going to play ff13 and get a HD console will still likely pick the ps3, mainly due ff13 versus+ff13
xbox360 its only getting ff13.

others --> ps3
japan --> ps3

but in america the xbox360 will sell more because of the larger install base, but the adoption rate it will be greater in the ps3

my friend was going to buy a ps3 for final fantasy but he is low on cash so he is thrilled that he is able to pick up a cheap 360 for it.

MGS4 is a stealth game like Splinter Cell. Ratchet is a platformer like Mario.

There is your 14 shooters. Any questions? Also how is Lost Planet NOT a shooter? Every demo I played strictly showed it is a shooter.

Seeing as how FFXIII is unlikely to see the light of day in English speaking territories before 2010, it's a bit early to be counting potential console sales for either the PS3 or the 360 due to this one title.

Japan stands to move the most hardware as a region due to FFXIII, which typically accounts for up to half of all FF soft units sold with each major release.

What the availability of FFXIII on the 360 does do for 360 owners (particularly the moderate JRPG niche), is save them the added cost of buying a PS3. Will they be buying another 360 when the game is released? Probably not.

Some are pushing the idea that the JRPG line up on the 360 in addition FFXIII in the future will result in more 360 sales, but again, it's too early to make any assumptions. If this were the case, then the hundreds of thousands (not millions) of JRPG gamers shopping for a current gen console could comfortably buy a 360 today, start enjoying the current 360 JPRGs, knowing that they have FFXIII to look forward to in the future.

I'm not holding my breath to see this happen in the near future.

If anything, they can wait until the game is actually released and buy a 360 or PS3 for $100 less, possibly even cheaper.

In the end, the PS3 loses sales to JRPG and FFXIII fans who would have had to make the jump to a PS3 to play the game. That's about it.

I own one allready.....

I have a few consoles that I have more than 1 of:

4 Sega Saturns: The best CD player(equalizer) built into a game system. The pitch adjustments were off the hook and I actually used two of them as DJ equipment. No other game system has even come close afterwards. All 4 work fine.

4 Playstations: 2 dead. 1 I need to put at a 45 degree angle to play. 1 that works fine.

2 Dreamcasts: Quick casual and arcadey fun. Both work fine.

2 Playstation 2s: 1 fat for home use. 1 slim hooked up in my car. Both work fine.

2 Xbox 360s: 1 for my room(launch system). 1 for the living room(elite). Both work fine.

I also have all the other game systems, but only 1 of them. Wouldn't have bought a PS3 yet, but I wanted to have one that was BC, so I bought a 60 gig before they were out. Would have waited for FF XIII to buy one.

As far as buying FF XIII goes. I'll buy the 360 version. If there are any good give aways for preordering on the PS3 version, I might buy that one too. If not I'll wait till Versus comes out and buy it.

I don't know. How is Ratchet and Clank not a shooter? Every demo I played strictly showed it as a shooter. I mean it isn't like Lost Planet and R&C have other aspects in their games besides the shooting. You know what's funny? You label Lost Planet as a shooter and Ratchet and Clank as a platformer, but surprisingly IGN lists them both under the same category, Action. Oh and IGN has both shooter and platformer categories, but neither were included in them. So you can have your Lost Planet and i'll take Ratchet and Clank for my argument. Fair enough? Ok let's move on.

14 out of 42 million sellers are shooters on 360. That equals 33%

4 out of 15 million sellers are shooters for PS3. That equals 27%

I don't see the big difference.

As for your other statement that 360 basically just sells shooters, racers and sports games, and the PS3 lineup is so varied, we'll do this one more time.

14 shooters, 6 racers, 6 sports games=26 million sellers on 360. That equals 62%

4 shooters, 3 racers, 2 sports games=9 million sellers on PS3. That equals 60%

So how varied is that PS3 million seller list sir?

I bought a 360 because I so happened to be at Target one night and saw a few people outside standing in line. I asked them whats going on. They said the 360 comes out tomorrow. So I was like, what the hell, I'm already here and I can make the cutoff. 2 other people had no clue  it was coming out either and decided to jump in line like I did. A cold and drizzling night, almost froze. It was worth it though.
