Forums - Microsoft - Who is going to actually buy X360 mainly for FFXIII?

Final Fantasy X did like 2m here in the USA, so if 360 is still cheaper than PS3 when the game releases it should drive 360 adoption, especially if its a holiday release. Its not so much that people will buy 360s for FFXIII though, so much as it is people won't buy PS3s for FFXIII.

@dolemit3: In that case the buyers are mostly FPS fans. not RPGers... I'm a big PS fan but at this moment the X360 is a much better purchase...

@Crazzy: don't man... noting good will come out of it.

i always hate it when you bring common sense to a thread. You've been warned.

There will be many, but you won't find many on a forum like this.

Many of the people (particularly active posters) on here will own one of the two HD consoles already, and it would be stupid to buy the other one for the game.
The rest are mostly Wii only owners, and most of them don't give a toss about Final Fantasy. Or not enough to consider another console.

This is a good thread subject, but I agree with several of the posts above. I love RPG's and since day one the only thing I wished my X360 would have is FFXIII. With the loss of its exclusivity, less people will buy a PS3 if they already have a X360.

That being said, with FFXIII now released on the X360 gives me no reason to purchase the PS3 for its exclusives. It's just not worth $400 + the games I would like to play. Dont get me wrong, the PS3 is an excellent system. But for my tastes, its defining game WAS FFXIII. I have an HD-DVD player with about 20+ great titles, so I can wait a bit for Blu-Ray prices to drop before investing in that market. At $13 a HDDVD now that BR won the war, and with the same quality as BR, I am quickly building an HD library until I invest in a (cheaper than PS3) Blu-Ray player, hopefully during this holiday.

I dont for-see a large boost in Hardware for X360 because of FFXIII, more, a steady selling rate slightly higher than the current monthly averages. I do see a possible drop in PS3 Hardware considering people who...like me....wanted a PS3 for FFXIII, and are now, not going to be getting one. As stated, people are guessing an average of 1mil in FFXIII sales on X360. How many of that 1mil would have bought a PS3 to experience FFXIII. I WAS at least (1), but no longer. PS3 will most likely take 2nd place, but my guess now is mid to late 2010 instead of 2009 like most thought.

This is a Crazzyman thread -- common sense and careful research are a bannable offense in here.

@RolStoppable, or just nobody is going to buy x360 mainly for FFXIII. =))

That is correct: the 360 is a shooter box, always has been and always will be. It will prevent some 360 owners from purchasing a PS3 though.

If 360 is a shooter box, what do you say about some of the PS3's top selling software?

Metal Gear Solid 4=2.47 million
Resistance: Fall of Man=2.95 million
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune=1.67 million
Ratchet and Clank Future=1.24 million
Grand Theft Auto IV=4.55 million
Call of Duty 4=3.40 million

Look at how much these shooters sold on PS3.

i think it will mainly prevent 360 users who were ps2 users from buying a ps3

The PS3, unlike the box, is not abundant in RPG's that are plenty on the X360...

@Onyxmeth
These are AAA quality shooters but the rabid Xbox fanbase can push even average shooters to be a million seller. No other current generation console can claim that.
