I don't believe that Final Fantasy XIII is going to really make anyone buy a 360, what it is going to do is rob people (like me)of one of few reasons their is to purchase a PS3 over a 360.

Fable 2 - 3 Million
Left 4 Dead - 1.5 Million
Infinite Undiscovery - 700k

The Last Remnant - 700k
Ninja Gaiden - 800k LTD [?] On its way.

^that. my opinion is that people who would get a ps3 and were waiting till ff13 will get a ps3.  people who wanted ff13 will still get a ps3.  but people who have a 360 will not get a ps3 because of this.

360 only benefits because of lack of ps3 sales.

Probably yes.) FFXIII is not a system seller for x360, it just a game, which current x360 owners will be able to buy. Maybe FFXIII will sell 500k, maybe 1 mln. But main sales will be on PS3 and not only because Japan.) It will outsell x360 version in all regions.

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

 

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

lol, Like GTA, huh. You need to stop with these excuses. SE is not stupid, FFXIII will do great because, In NA the xbox will sell more while OTHERS and Japan belongs to Sony.

That is correct: the 360 is a shooter box, always has been and always will be. It will prevent some 360 owners from purchasing a PS3 though.

@psrock, not sure,
but probably FFXIII will be one of first games, which will coem simultaneosly on ps3 and x360 in usa/europe on 1 BD for PS3 and several DVDs or more on x360.
You never know how lazy people are, when they have an alternative.))

NA by the time of FFXIII release will be like 60/40% of HW sales in favour of x360 or even in favour of PS3. Don`t forget how MANY great games coming durign that period on PS3.

Oh, i should probably create a thread: "Will you now NOT buy PS3, because of FFXIII going multi?"

@Xen. The library is diverse, yes, but the biggest movers are shooters. Just look at the mediocre (quality-wise) games like Army of Two and R6 Vegas 2 -- these are already million-sellers.

You're right. Honestly, FF XIII is not much of a system seller on the 360. The reason it is on the PS3 is because it's a huge RPG and huge brand name on a console with little of either to call it's own. People we're waiting to purchase their PS3's when this game shipped, and the announcement is going to let many 360 owners save a couple hundred on a new console, and many waiting to get into the HD era will see what else interests them, and an RPG fan will most likely go 360. There have been so many reasons to buy a 360 already that this news is nothing but extra icing on an already delicious cake while to some PS3 owners this game was the cake's filling.

You must be delusional if you think it doesn't matter to Sony they'll lose 2 million PS3 sales over this. Those are lost software sales, movie sales, accessory sales, etc. They care very much.
