After playing FE 7 for the third time on hard mode, I couldn't help but notice that Lyn and Samus have alot of similarities.

One being rather minor but noticable is that Samus had green hair and so does Lyn.  Another being that both had their parents killed and their homeplanet/homeland destroyed rather ruthlessly.  Both have a weapon that only they can use (Mani Katti/Power Suit).  Also they are forced to adapt to a lifestyle at odd points in their lives ("Living with the Chozo at 3, fighting space pirates./Being informed to being the Marquess's granddaughter at the age of 18 and being Heir to Caelin).  And despite this, they don't do what they do for entitlement, money or fame but rather as a means to right a wrong(Defeating Ridley and the Space Pirates/Defeating Lungdren and his legion of conspiracy believing followers).  I'm sure they're more but I won't go into it.

Could Lyn just be a clever homage to Samus? discuss.

Highly doubt it. Probably just a coincidence, and there are a hell of a lot more differences than similarities.

 Have you played Metroid with the Justin Bailey password, you would know what I mean if you did.

But even in the original it was red hair, iirc, which still isn't green.
