actually the story picks up where the first one leaves off... so your missing quite a bit of the epic story... how kratos became the god of war.

PS2 games are region locked right?so if I m in NA it ahs to be NTSC right?

Yes they are.  Also as Staude said, there is no reason not to get GOW1.  Especially at the prices you can probably pick it up for.  You'll know the story, and God of War is still a kickass game.

God of War is quite cool and you can get it on the cheap.

never played ico but shadow of the colssus is amazing! The graphx are superb aswell as the music and the fist time you see a colossus, man its great!
