Forums - Gaming - N'Gai Croal and Pachter: Sony the worst of the big 3 at E3?

Nintendo used E3 as a casual forum. I have a feeling we will see more hardcore games (as much as N does hardcore now) at TGS.

Torturing the numbers.  Hear them scream.

To be honest, as far as new stuff goes i think Nintendo delivered the most.

MS: they demoed Avatars which we already knew about, and they announced FF 13, a game we already knew about just losing exclusivity. We knew about Gears 2, Resi 5, what else was there, the movie game?

Sony: KZ2: Knew about it. LBP?: Already shown many times. Resistance 2? Knew about it. Home? Knew about it. Only thing new was God of War 3 and MAG, both pre rendered trailers showcasing very little to nothing about the game or when there will be a release date.

Nintendo: Wii Motion plus (huge). Wii Speak (very nice). Animal Crossing, Wii Sports Resort, Wii Music, GTA for the DS.

Granted Nintendo has no stellar games, but it's still more new stuff than the other companies, and the new hardware is very good news. How can you not be excited about 1:! motion control and voice chat?

Most people agree Nintendo's conference sucked. Animal Crossing, leaked beforehand, looked like a more cartoony Home.

But hey, way to ignore PSN and Live games that look better than anything Nintendo showed. Galaga and Geometry Wars 2 look awesome.

Fat Princess.

Because they are giving all credit for Fallout 3 and RE5 demos to Microsoft, both games that will be on PS3. Gear 2 was equalled by Resistance 2. Fable looked like the Sims, even know the game has more to it, obviously. Oh well, it doesn't really matter. I think Sony had a solid conference, Microsoft had a good one, and Nintendo barely showed up. Their controller was only announced because they thought Microsoft and/or Sony was going to announce a motion controller. If it's coming out in Spring, peraps TGS would have been a better venue for that, but I guess they didn't really have anythng else.

I, er, think you may have the order here wrong about AC and Home. By about ten years.

And @ 4lc0h0l: to be fair, Microsoft would have had a lot more new announcements had it not been for the marketing leak. They just chose the wrong employee, from a security standpoint.

Animal Crossing leaked before hand, Wii Sports Resort knew was coming eventually because of the success of first one, Wii Music shown a few years ago, GTA for the DS.

yeah he did ignore the psn and live games.  and I added the bolded parts, so the only thing we didn't know about before hand from Nintendo was gta for ds.

Still discussing this?

Whoever "wins" will change from person to person. It's all opinon.

I agree. General concensus does not an opinion make.

IMO, don't think anyone "won" e3, it was all too close and sucky to call.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Here's something majorly dead on that Pachter said:

On FFXIII:

"It's a win, not because MS is gonna move boxes, it's because Sony's not gonna move boxes."

He went on to describe how exclusive Japanese content was a major reason for purchase of PS3(Implied: by Americans) and that MGS4 could be the last big Japanese exclusive for either company. He cites RE5 as an example.

It's dead on, imo.

That is the reason why FFXIII is a big deal. It gives 360 owners another reason not to buy a PS3. It's not gonna be a huge console mover for MS, but the move reduces the console moving status of the game in the US, and that's a win for Microsoft.

When asked to grade all three companies based on their press conferences at E3 Michael Pachter and N'Gai Croal felt that it was Sony who was the worst recieving a "B-" from Pachter and a "C" from N'Gai Croal. Sited reasoning includes too much focus on PS2, not fully leveraging the PS3's lineup, and too much focus on games we already knew about.

err...what?

What did the 360 announce exactly? (aside from a Multi-Platform game)

At least with the PS3 we got a confirmed GoW3 and some intriguing PSN games.

Wow, talk about pretending a megaton was just a firecracker. Sure the presentation wasn't that much, but you really tried to downplay the signifigance of that announcement.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

What I find funny is how all the people on these forms were saying that M$ had no chance in hell at even competing with the other two's shows. I guess it hurts when the reality, and other industry opinions, say otherwise.
