E3 08: Euro PS3 Platinum range confirmed

Six titles priced at £19.99 to arrive on August 1st, many more by the end of the year

SCEE boss David Reeves last night confirmed that the European version of the firm’s PS3 budget software range, dubbed the Platinum Range in this territory, will arrive on store shelves on August 1st.

Games will cost just £19.99 (€29.99 in mainland Europe) – significantly less than the £39.99-£49.99 RRP carried by most new PS3 releases.

The first batch of Platinum titles will include first party offerings Resistance: Fall of Man and Ratchet & Clank 3 from Insomniac, Ninja Theory’s Heavenly Sword, Evolution’s Motorstorm and Naughty Dog’s Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.

In addition, third party titles Virtua Tennis 3 from Sega and Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed will also join the range. THQ’s WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2008 will join them in September.

Reeves also stated that a further ten titles will go Platinum by the end of November.

Interesting to see Uncharted as a platinum when it is not in the US.
I'll be getting Resistance

Those are some top quality games in the initial batch, a good bargain for anyone who doesn't own them already.

I thought $29.99 was more like £14.99?

;) but hey sounds good.

Yes, but full price games are equivalent to $100 in the UK

@Burgles
As someone once insulted me telling me this, our txes are already added. (or something like that) Also remember weak dollar etc etc.

£20 for any of those games is a bargain (win all over). Ratchet and Clank might be a buy for me. Was hoping for maybe Folklore but nevermind.

Hmm, pie.

£20 = £17 before 17.5% VAT is added. £17 = $34 which is pretty good compared to US price of $30 when you consider how weak the US$ currently is, and how much more the cost of doing business is in the UK than in the US.

Good to know that they will be realising it soon and that few others will come too

30 euros :(

Ratchet and Clank 3? That can't be right...
