i have never played Animal Crossing before, but it seems so great and happy game!!

for me Nintendo E3 was great, and Animal Crossing is a 1st day buy for me!! : )

Shameless is shameless, that's why he's called Shameless. Nintendo remained immensely profitable for two generations of last place home console because of the handheld monopoly. If they can take advantage of an advantageous situation then why not? Not that I'm complaining, if I'm going to give my money to a company that makes gaming possible I'd like that money to go to a company dedicated to making gaming possible.

To translate Nintendo's situation to Micrsoft, imagine if all they did to appease hardcore gamers was show the trailer for Banjo Kazooie nuts and bolts, show a trailer for Call of Duty: World at war, and mention that GTA downloadable content was coming this fall (but show no footage) Would that have gone over well?

I think they mean Animal Crossing is hardcore in the sense that it's a franchise that Nintendo fans are very familar with.

Well that, like most every definition of "hardcore", seems extremely subjective since what some experienced gamers find thought provoking or difficult others might find mindless and easy.

Can you further elaborate? Are all three of these things a requirements to be "hardcore" because then there goes games like BioShock which are absurdly easy even on the hardest difficulty without vita-chambers. And something like Gears of War certainly isn't all that thought-provoking being almost entirely devoid of any kind story or thoughtful concepts. (One of the reasons I liked it actually) And games like GTA IV and CoD IV are enjoyed by the masses as well as the "core" audience.

So how do those games fit with your personal definition?

I never have anything good to say about any of the three companies. Nintendo are just giving me the most material at the moment.

I hated Shameless at first too, but now I think he's awesome.

 

I would like shamelss, but his little movie clip or whatever in his sig greatly annoys me and his profile picture is kind of....creepy.  Especially that womans(?) teeth are really disgusting.

I don't understand wii fanboys complaining about nintendo shunning out the hardcore. nintendo is making a device that makes the wiimote super sensitive, LIGHTSABERS You wiiowners are getting Animal Crossing, which was the best game that i ever owned for the gamecube, and now it's going to be much better, a city, build your house and furnish it. Not Hardcore enough? you guys are getting Mad World, you get to impale some ones head with a lamp post, while showering the entire scene in blood. Wow.
