Atlus are the developers of Persona....these guys do Disgaea and other SRPGish outtings if memory serves

Yep.

Off the top of my head

Disgaea Series

Soul Nomad and the World Eaters

Phanom Brave

La Pucelle Tactics

Makai Kingdom.

Basically expect fair solid gameplay for a SRPG and a hilarious story.

None of which have been around for more than 1 generation.

My money goes on Sakura Taisen V.

Key quote is this . "a lot of the hardcore RPG fans will [enjoy the announcement]," and that the series has been around in Japan for a couple of generations."

Nippon Ichi makes Sakura Taisen games?  I thought that was purely Sega.

According to someone over at NeoGAF, someone said an NIS America employee at the Anime Expo (not sure which one, maybe the recent one in CT, said Sakura Taisen was coming to America.

I will check now to see who makes them.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Also pulled from an interview with an NIS employee 6/3/2008.

"The Sakura Taisen series is another one that people want. What about any games in that series, do they even have a chance here in the states?"

"JN: Sakura Taisen is one of those amazing games that never really made it to the states. Many of our fans have been asking us to localize that game, but haven't really had the chance to do so. We'll see how this game goes as well.?"

Maybe they own it now.

RPGamer interview.

End of interview says this.

"JN: Also some of the games that you mentioned above...we are working on them right now. :)"

If so... EXCELLENT PS3 NEWS!!!

Huh.  The latest game... a DS game is still listed as Sega owned.  Maybe they do localization work for Sega sometimes?  Or got sub contracted for a game.

Maybe NIS America will publish the titles, but Sega owns the franchise for sure

Maybe could even be Mana Khemia 2?

Ahhhh I get it. That link you posted. Seems to be from their localization department.

Where they basically pick and choose what games they want to bring over from other developers who didn't think it was worth the time.  Like all those Atlus published games.

Could be a new Rhapsody though come to think of it.

^Has Rhapsody been around for more than 1 generation in Japan? It also has been released in the States, so I don't think it fits the "Has been around for a couple generations in Japan." remark.

This makes me think it is a franchise that never made it's way here.

That coupled with the interview, it all points to Sakura Taisen.

Oh how I hope.

Very good news!! I'm excited!

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

Check out MyAnimeList and my Game Collection. Owner of the 5 millionth post.

I also believe the Sakura Taisen series has been around for 2 generations as well. So that fits the "Couple of generations" quote.

1 on Saturn, 2 on Dreamcast and 3 on PS2 I believe,. 4 I believe was on PC.

Dreamcast and PS2 are of the same gen. So BAM!!! A couple generations. In Japan. Oh how I feel like I am right.

Anyone else  hoping for Sakura Taisen V?
