Will I be able to play Halo Wars on Xbox 360 and PC?
A: Halo Wars is for the Xbox 360 exclusively.

Also, for the few who played Battle For Middle Earth 2 like myself, that proved that an RTS can work on a console.

Consoles Owned: Sega Genesis, NES, PS2 (RIP) N64, Xbox, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii

I'm not really a huge RTS guy

the only one I kind of got into was LOTR:BfME 2 and to an even lesser extent Age of Mythology

I did like Caeser 3...but that's different

On the PC due out this year for the RTS genre. We have Diablo 3 and Star Craft 2. Both those games will be better than Halo Wars.

Halo Wars will be controlled with the 360 analogue controller. That should be interesting. We know how well console RTS games have done in the past. I hope there is a mouse and keyboard control option or a motion control similar to the Wii.

Halo Wars looks good on the surface. What is the game play and control in the game like?

fail

2008 year end sales (made in January 2008):

44.2 M 27.1 M 20.8 M

The RTS and FPS genres are my most favorite genres. Anyways, this is indubitably a must-have game.

Not really. If you knew the history of Real Time Strategy games, you'd know that in the very early years, a few were made for consoles exclusively, and Herzog Zwei had one of the best controls for an RTS, ever.

If you build an RTS for a console, from the ground up, you can do a very good job of it. How many people do you hear that are Civilization fans, that hate Civilization: Revolution on the X360/PS3? Very few, if any. Everyone loves it. Why? It was built for consoles, and that makes the difference. You can't easily take an RTS, and port it to consoles, it has to be built with consoles in mind. When you do that, you can make sure everything looks, and plays great.

Civilization 4 >>>> Civilization Revolution

RTS games are better on PC (Yes. Some console versions have great controlls but mouse is however much better) so I don't unterstand why they don't make PC version.

You could make the argument that FPSs are better on the PC but that hasn't stopped devs making a crapton of FPSs on consoles. Do I agree that RTSs are usually better on the PC yes, but a large part of that is because the consoles get a port thats hastily done. This one is being built from the ground up and according to IGN its great.

I read that a while ago and have meant to pick up and try BFME2. I watched some videos and reviews and they said the controls worked very well.

If Halo Wars can pull off better than what I saw on Lord of the Rings, any RTS fan who owns a 360 should definitely pick this game up. It looks ace.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Slightly different things. If I compare controlls I could easily say PC FPSs are almost always better than console FPSs but difference is not such big as between console RTS and PC RTS. You have also local co-op on console FPSs so example I prefer console version if that has co-op.

I was talking from the controls perspective on FPS for the PC not the game itself. I don't think they are different at all. The biggest problem with both of them is speed. In Starcraft I could micromanage and get around the map easily. In Battle For Middle Earth 2 I couldn't move around as fast as I wanted.

Same thing with FPSs, I play Halo at 10 sensitivity and it's still slow compared to the likes of Battlfield or Quake Wars on the PC. Obviously the controls can be far worse on the console for RTSs if they arent't made correctly but if I compare the best excecutions of each kind of game, speed is the only big gripe for me.

I agree tho about the console FPSs. I prefer them as overall games on the console but I give the nod to FPS controls on the PC.
