Forums - Nintendo - The Conduit impressions(GoNintendo)

I’ll end with a little bit of conversation that came up in our elevator ride down to the hotel lobby. We got into talking about publishers, and while High Voltage wouldn’t give me a name, they had a truly horrible story to tell. One publisher they approached outright told them that they didn’t understand why High Voltage was making the game. They thought the project was great, but had no idea who they were trying to sell to. After saying that, the publishers said that they wanted to turn the game into a $20 project, and crap it out for a holiday release. Yes, the publisher really said “crap it out”. Seriously, how disheartening is that?

While I`m very happy to hear how well the game is shaping up, this story here over-shadows everything. If this is the attitude publishers have towards the Wii, then I hope games such as the Conduit, De Blob, Deadly Creature and Madworld sell very very well, otherwise this attitude wont be going anywhere.

this game is sounding great

@million--i care about the graphics b/c i want a great FPS, and while other systems offer good ones the controls are crap compared to what you can get from teh wii...so i want to be able to control and be eye candyfied insted of just having bleeding eyes and ho hum controls

Very nice, someone understood.

Can some one explain to me why people care about the graphics in coduit , at all ?

Because we love to play good looking games. That hard to understand?

And if you now come along and ask: then why no ps3? as you probably intended with your question, then you have understood nothing.

hence the original question.

You don't respond to half a sentence. Look at the whole thing to see the context.

My intention when asking this question was because I was wondering why anyone would care about the graphical potential of the Wii when the PS3 , XBOX 360 & PC exist.

I obviously don't understand anything according to Faxan so I asked , I did respond in context.

If you go by that stance, you can't include PS3 and XBox 360 there because, well, why would you care about the graphical potential of either one when the PC exists? And I think your intention was plain to see from the very beginning, hence the comment from Faxanadu. TBH, I consider your comment to be borderline trolling.

Wait, did they just mention a... level editor for online multiplayer? GREAT!

Wow what a dumb stance. If the Wii can't do what the other systems do, it shouldn't even do what it can do by itself?

That is just BS.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Still annoyed that the only way to turn is the bounding box.

Perhaps no one has realised what I have (turn with the control stick FFS)

At least it is fully custom though, I noticed most PC FPS have no boundary box, you always point at the centre of the screen.... so maybe I shall try that.

Well think about it for a second: On a PC you don't need a bounding box because it's perfectly easy to just let your mouse sit still.  It's not as easy to hold a Wiimote steady, so hence, the need for a bounding box.  Also, if you're turning with the control stick, how do you strafe or look up or down?  You'd need to assign an button(s) to hold down for strafing and that button could probably be used for something better, such as weapon switching, melee attack, etc.

Using the Wiimote to turn and aim is the next logical step beyond dual-analog control.  The Wiimote simply replaces the second analog stick for a more natural method.  Using the control stick for turning and moving dates the controls back to Doom--a game where you didn't need to look up, down, or around you.

As for this GoNintendo article, it has me even more pumped for The Conduit.  I just can't wait.  It's going to kick so much ass.

my interest has peaked after reading this.
