Forums - Microsoft - Now Microsoft has won E3, will they get a Sony-like boost?

I can't see why Microsoft 'won' E3.
Only because they managed to share a title with ps3? Big deal.

I think Nintendo will continue to be the leading force with the new MotionPlus technology and all the titles that will release over the following months. Animal Crossing will dominate the Charts over the Holidays and God knows what other titles that they are secretly working (they don't announce them earlier than a month from the release date, anymore).

It feels like Nintendo just told me to go and %^&$ myself with their E3 press conference.

I doubt that many people here care how well games like Animal crossing sell as they aren't the target market.

Tease.

Ill be glad when the who won E3 debate finally dies. Its always going to be from a different perspective.

But please think about what the gaming population is mostly made up of: one console owners and future one console owners.

If you think about it that way, how has the perception of these gamers changed? How will the new buyer react to these announcements?

As a 360 owner, its clear alot has changed completely. As a new buyer, which conference showed the most gameplay footage and firm release dates? And I am sure many future console owners were waiting for FF13 to hit and may also have started to change their thoughts on future console choice.

Its funny how VGC posters before E3 were listing megaton predictions and hoping that their E3 conference will blow them away, and then when the mother of all megaton surprise hits at the MS one which no one predicted, its no longer a 'winning criteria'.

yeah, after watching the Nintendo conference once more - Animal Crossing part - i think Animal Crossing will dominate holidays, and Ms will get nothing...

btw, i wonder...how much has Ms paid Square Enix, why doesn't Sqaure Enix join Ms??

lol, Ms E3 could have been horrible without 4-5 Square Enix games....

Sony just announced 2 games, thats about it. God of War was expected and the "Massive Action Game" (Who chose THAT name?). Both Videos were rendered and are about to be released in 15 - 20 months.

Personally I think MS won the e3, not just with the FF announcement, but with universal - nbc - netflix deal. And they actually showed games that are about to release in 3-4 months like Gears of War2, which looks awesome, and Fable2. The new Xbox Live is great, too. And the Fallout3 exclusive download content could be nice.

But keep in mind, what MS didn't show: The word "Halo" wasn't used once, and there is Halo Wars coming out, Halo Chronicles and "Halo Blue" (That is what I heard). Also no Forza3 and no Alan Wake. But Sony still has GT5 and Tekken6.

But Nintendo was funny. They had NOTHING to offer. I know, these games will sell more than well, but quantity is not quality. As a hardcore gamer, that was just nothing. But Nintendo is doing a great job with their marketing. Who the hell uses a Nintendo DS as a cooking guide? I loved the situation as the mid-age lady said "Who doesn't know this situation, your at an airport, you are in a hurry, you don't know where your gate is... Wouldn't it be great if the DS could help you out?" I was like WTF? Okay, i am not the typical tourist-guide, I might be at an airport twice a year and I never ever wished to have a Nintendo DS in my pocket!

But @topic:

I think it will help MS a little bit, but the boost won't be that huge.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

E3 Will have no noticable boost on sales , the most signifant news (Final Fantasy multiplatform) won't take effect for possibly another 1.5-2 years.

No they won't get a "Sony-like" bosst.

I doubt sony got any kind of boost due to "winning" E3. Those were other effects.

Also Ratchet and Clank Quest for Booty, Resistance Retribution, Super Stardust Portable and several other PSN games. God of War is expected next Spring, they always come out then. We don't know anything about MAG's release

Because Sony did not show Resistance 2 and Little Big Planet... oh hang on, they did! however, there should have been more of Motorstorm Pacific Rift and Killzone 2. They also announced the immediate release of movies should help. I should point out that the netflix deal and movies for PSN only affect the US, where the 360 is doing quite well anyway

But keep in mind, what MS didn't show: The word "Halo" wasn't used once, and there is Halo Wars coming out, Halo Chronicles and "Halo Blue" (That is what I heard). Also no Forza3 and no Alan Wake. But Sony still has GT5 and Tekken6

Sony did not mention Killzone 2, and there was only a tiny bit of Motorstorm, for this holiday. They did show us a little of InFamous though, so they have given us plently of games for this holiday and the spring, though Uncharted 2 went umentioned as it has still not been announced, and Sony still have Versus up their sleave

I've already gotten my wrist spanked hard for egging on PS3 fanboys, so I'll not pour any salt into the wounds...

I'll just say this, the fact that the Xbox 360 is in open competition with Nintendo and Sony can't be understated. The console is a great gaming rig, and it continues to evolve...and that's one thing Microsoft has always been exceptional at...evolution. I think the results of this E3, when the obituaries were being written for the 360 at the start of this year, are just an indication of what's to come.

Sony won with the announcement of MAG. 256 player online MMOFPS, the video was 100% in game play. PS3's are being bought by the truckload as we speak.
MAG announcement eclipsed the FFXIII being ported to X360.
