Forums - Microsoft - Now Microsoft has won E3, will they get a Sony-like boost?

maybe microsoft still hide some strong cards ... like sony .. example: GOW 3

Speaking of strong cards, dont forget Bungies game, which Don Mattrick just let slip is a Halo game (outside Halo Wars and Peter Jackson's Halo). They just werent ready for it to be shown.

I think though that FF13 is a game that will bring more people to this generation than GTA4. So it will be very interesting to see the sales during the launch and the price points by that time.

Its much more likely the 360 will be the cheaper option still. Sony can counter this by offering a Slim PS3, who knows. But they cant keep bundling AAA games with consoles at launch.

 FFXIII will never match GTA4 sales, it is just too much hardcore and not enought big gun

Well, not everyone agrees that M$ won E3, I don't see why M$ got so much credit for showing off loads of 3rd party games? Gears and Banjo looked good, though Fable was a slightly dull show which did not really show anything new.

Last year not everyone agreed that Sony won E3, but it's still acknowledged they did by the community at large.  Its the same for Microsoft this year.

Do you reckon that'll lead to a boost in the coming months?

There will be in the US, but that is only because of the price cut. I don't think the announcements will really help, because we still don't know everything about the Live stuff, and though the netflix deal will add more gold subscibers (in the US) all the stuff announced is still several months away, and we did not really see much new in terms of games for this holiday, though Gears and Banjo do definitely look good, but MS 2 (according to hands-on impressions after the press conference), R2 and LBP all look incredible, and KZ 2 keeps looking better, even though it is for Feb. Anyway, I still think Sony won E3, even if it is closer between PS3 and 360

I have yet to watch Nintendo's conference (watching now) but out of the other 2, MS clearly won.
FFXIII was huge, it's almost on the same level as when sony announced that the PS1 would undercut sega's saturn (i think it was) price by $100. This E3 was still very much up for grabs after MS's showing, but sony blew it. There was nothing there that really blew me away, God Of War 3 was a good start but we all knew it was coming, to follow up with MAG was very disappointing, we wanted a well known developer making the next installment of a well established AAA franchise.

After Socom and Warhawk, does anyone truly care about MAG?

What sony needed was a heavily guarded monster hit, but they pulled on most of what we expected, stuff we didn't but didn't care about AND they neglected a big showing of what they do have already.

==> COMPLETELY agree

What really clenched it for MS though was the last 10 seconds of the gears showing, when marcus announced that they would ride the brumak! I mean come on, R2 did not have anything as cool as that and was it just me or does the leviathan look an awful lot like Megatron from the recent Transformers movie.......

==> I agree R2 trailer was "meh" and unimpressive

but come on, "riding the brumak" was a non-event

Sony won with the announcement of MAG. 256 player online MMOFPS, the video was 100% in game play. PS3's are being bought by the truckload as we speak.
MAG announcement eclipsed the FFXIII being ported to X360.

Two important points about the FFXIII anouncement.

A. Microsoft WILL dominate the RPG genre, so anyone with at least one eye on RPGs/JRPGs will seriously consider making their first or second console an Xbox360.

B. One of the main criticisms with the Xbox360 is that many of the games are on the PC and because many PC fans buy consoles only for games like JRPGs/and other genres not supported well by the PC it makes it a very viable 2nd platform ahead of the PS3 if you are considering JRPG support.

Shooters do not pull in these people as easily, and it will be interesting to see the reaction in Europe where theres both a high PC gamer penetration and less cultural emphasis on the shooter genre.

If I had to sell one of my consoles now, I would push the PS3 out the door before the Xbox360 even though im a HUGE pc fan with a fast computer because of the JRPG dominance.

Funny that you bring up amazon when I am sure you have laughed at people using amazon as a reference.

You dismiss MAG as a distant future release, when you don't mention that FF XIII will not come out soon either.

No, you're right, you're a follower of the games and not biased at all...

Oh I'm sorry. Do I need to redirect you to the word "anecdotal" that I used to describe the Amazon link?

Provide an answer to my question of get out of my thread.

It doesn't matter that you use the word "anecdotal", since it comes down to the fact that you still use Amazon as a reference, whether you actually stand by it or not.  You still use it to  illustrate your point.

Just admit you're a xbox fan O_o

@squiliam

by the time final fantasy arrives (2010),PS3 RPG/JRPG line up might be on par/better than 360 .it's still 1&1/2 - 2 years away.So we can not make any logical forecast,,,,but the price drop this week might give 360 a boost not a multi platform game that will come out in 2 years.

==> except Japanese people will not have FFXIII on Xbox360
and
Last remananat is multiplateform
So4 may become multiplateform

(just look Eternel Sonata)

when u consider people always focused on main serie (FFXIII or Dragon quest) u understand it is pretty much balanced between the 2 console.
